What is the problem with providing voter ID when in so many other aspects of life you may be called upon to produce ID?

The necessity of having ID on one's person and having to show it constantly for every imaginable reason is not a fact of life in North America and comparison with the more socialist life style such as found in Europe where ID is a must, isn't valid. Entirely different life styles and rights in NA.

Regardless, the issue is not with requiring voter ID, the problem is what the laws state is accepted as ID. 30 states already have laws requiring voter ID and others have laws in the works. Unfortunately, some states have passed laws that limit individuals from gaining acceptable ID or no allowing certain types of ID and thus the law violates those individuals constitutional rights to vote.

As for the news media, I cannot even fathom how Fox is permitted to even operate as a news agency. Fox doesn't report the news, they make it up as they go.

Thing about today is that every news network is being forced basically to cover hurricane sandy. This is the 1st day in over a month that Foxnews has been forced to report on something that is actually more important than covering the overly politicized benghazi incident that happened over a month ago.

With election day almost a week away Foxnews must be going nuts over not really being able to politicize benghazi all day long like they have been basically doing everyday.

Overly publicized incident I've never heard of.

Fox News ain't alone in making s*** up, or have the lot of you already forgotten how the media drug George Zimmerman through the mud, making s*** up, editing audio recordings and photos to make him look bad?

Google'd, that's the attack on the embassy that killed some people, right? I didn't know where it happened or that people were referring it to the "Bengzhai incident." All I know is that someone, somewhere attacked some American embassy and killed some American people things.

Also, I think some people may have been playing some cartoon or something.

I hope this has adequately summed up my understanding of this incident.

With Hurricane Sandy being the big topic of the week seems Mitt Romney is still on campaign and did a "disaster relief" speech in Avon Lake, Ohio today about hurricane Sandy.

If you ask me out of all places Avon Lake, Ohio? His campaign is desperately clinging to Ohio because if the election was held today Mitt Romney would probably loose the election if he lost Ohio.

Don't know if you have seen this page, but it is kind of interesting in how it makes predictions - http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/

Worth looking at anyway - even just for interests sake.

@Tidus44

according to that link Obama is probably going to win no matter what romney tries to do. But historically a republican has never won without Ohio. This is why i think Romney is clinging to Ohio so much over any other state.

I think the romney campaign has wasted too much money on false campaign ads and spent too much time focusing on Ohio. This is kind of the down fall for the republican party. If they would have actaully spent money on ads that were honest it wouldn't have been a waste of money. The latest Romney campaign ad is trying to convience the people Obama is outsorcing jobs to china for Jeep when no Jeep plants are being closed down in america. The only reason why Jeep is possibly opening up a plant in china is to meet the demands for their product over seas. I know The obama campaign has done much the same in campaign ads spinning the truth on things Romney has said or done. iIf you were to look over the campaign ads for both canidates a majority of the misleading ads are the ones being pushed out by the romney campaign. It was just easier for the Obama campaign to use smear ads against mitt romney because he has made so many political mistakes that makes him look bad.

I will be honest I do think the economy is growing too slowly but it is improving under obama. Yet it is better than voting to put someone new into office that basically stated they would destroy all the progress obama has made knowing they would go back to almost the same policies the bush administration had that put the country into the hole it was in after bush left office would actually work for once... ( throughout history all republican economic policies has basically been the same with small changes and have never really worked). I am saying this because even though mitt is a liar and a huge flipflopper on issues and policies, I do think both canidates want to improve the economy but I think a lot of the ideas Romney has are too radical for such a weak state our country is in right now now.

This is just giving the republican party the benefit of the doubt concidering a lot of republican core beliefs are totally unpopular to me as a woman.

One thing i can say is if Obama does win the election this year he has a huge reputation to live up to the next 4 years. Despite he is the 1st historical black president i think he would like history to be written as him being a better president than he has been the 1st 4 years in office.

With times changing and America is becoming more diverse eventually i can see in the near future the 1st female president as well as a president that is asian american or even latino. This is why I think America is such a great country is because being a nation of immigrant it is possible for anyone who is born here to become our next leader.

Colourwheel – I am in agreement with you 100%.

The Republicans tried to run a “fear” campaign by pointing out what they feel are failures and mistakes by the President. It’s OK IMO to point out mistakes, but where is the plan and the details that show how the Republicans will do better? The worst thing they have done is start off with a hard line conservative stance on the issues and then got more and more moderate. Exactly where is it they stand on the issues? About 3/4 of their platform has changed to agree with what the President has done and is doing and is a moving target.

The Jeep issue is a very good example of the poor decision making of the Republicans and their fear campaign. Jeep very clearly stated no plants would shut in USA and this was a reopening of a previous expansion of Jeep into China to capture new markets. Why would Romney then either lie or be so poorly informed that he makes a huge error in making a statement about it? It seems he does get his information from Fox News as has been shown on a number of occasions.

But, I wonder, is this the kind of President the American people want? A man who will say and do anything, who will lie and misrepresent the facts, who changes position on issues based on the audience he is facing? The mind boggles.

I am also not convinced that the economy is the only issue at play here and that the agenda the Republicans have stated in the campaign won’t happen. If someone thinks the Republicans won’t try and do everything they have said they will be doing, they are not fooling anyone but themselves. The Republicans want USA to go back to 1950 on a whole range of social issues and if given the opportunity they will try. Just look at what Republican states have done on the voter ID issue, especially those states with a less than stellar history of treatment of minorities. Just a bizarre situation. It may be possible that they won’t succeed on all these issues, but do not try and convince me they won’t try.

When Obama wins he does have a lot to live up to, but I think he has the ability to do the right things and will continue to turn things around. Things have been improving in the US, but it can’t all be fixed in 4 years. He has not been as good a President as I had hoped but, I trust he will do better in the next 4 years.

I look at the alternative and cringe at what a disaster that man will turn the country into.

For the future? – I look towards a strong US in not only its economy, but in all its issues as well, internally and externally. The world is way too small to limit one self or others by prejudice and injustice and regardless of male/female, race, color, creed religion or sexual preference whoever is president they need to do the right things, not just what they think people want at any point in time.
