billyro
Hi all. I've noticed while playing the Fable games that there are quite a few similarities between the game and things in Australia. These are some of the things I have found: 1. There is a town called Albion near Brisbane in Queensland. (Albion being the land of the Fable games)2. There is a town called Logan near Albion, also in Queensland. (Logan being your brother in Fable 3, and king of Albion)3. The dog in Fable 3 is an Australian Border Collie. That's the things off the top of my head. I'm sure there are also influences from other countries as well, but since I've lived only in Australia I don't know them. What do you think? Any influences from other countries as well?
XanAlderon
I think the more likely explanation is that Logan was chosen simply as it is a relatively popular name, Albion was a coincidence, and the Border Collie was chosen because it's a genuinely lovable sort of dog haha. RitualBlack
There is at least one town in Ontario (Canada) named Albion. Also, if I remember correctly the first Fable had a map similar to that of the UK.
micalov
Albion is a VERY old name for the British Isles

flamenx01
Lionhead Studios is British they are based in Britain and the lead developer is British. There is tonnes of references to British history and pop culture in the game. I could see the references being meaningful if the company was set up in Australia (Like GTA SA having the Forth Road and Rail Bridges in it because some of it was made in Scotland) but since there seems to be no direct link between the game and Australia it can probably be put down to coincidence. Edit: Also the kingdom was named in the first fable game(long before the plot of fable 3 was even considered let alone the kings name) Edited August 30, 2012 by flamenx01

I think it is a coincidence too, but I just thought it interesting. Another thing about the mentioning of Lionhead Studios, is in Fable 2 there is an island called Lion's Head Island. Not related to this topic, mind, but it's still cool.
RitualBlack
Similar to the 'Lion's Head Island', in Fable TLC there were 'Big Blue Box' and 'Lionhead' tattoos named after the studios responsible for the game. They put a bit of a story behind them and made them fit into the game which was neat.
billyro
Also, don't you think the mercenaries in Fable 3 are based on the stereotype of a typical Australian? I dunno, aside from the British accent, the way they talk sounds a bit based on us (e.g. They say "mate" lots) but I dunno if people in Britain talk like that too... JimboUK
The term "Mate" is common in the UK too, especially in London. A lot of Australia's early "settlers" came from London so it stands to reason that the use of language is similar.
