How's this PC build seems to you?

hiya! i'm an old gamer and could use some advice. my goal is to play Skyrim and Fallout games as best they can be played. my 4yr old DELL XPS 17 w/ HD 4850 512mb has played anything as well as i'd like, except for these open world games w/ lotsa textures. so i want this PC to play them flawlessly. no lag or stutter. and i love MODS! always run a bunch but can't use hardly any texture or enemy spawn mods, so i want this machine to play like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUzRwEYolrU

and before ya say it...i really don't wanna risk building this myself because i have health conditions that have made my eyes bad w/ small stuff and my hands tremble a bit. so thought about going with IBuypower. seems like they have some good deals for Labor day.

now 1st i was planning to gather the parts and take then to my local Microcenter, who've confirmed they'd build it for me ($150, plus i'd be getting some parts there). here was a list of parts recommended to me by some very helpful folks (last few posts on 1st page)...

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1423102/please-help-me-upgrade-or-buy-a-new-pc

but after adding everything up, and taking into account tax, fees, ect, it seems to be a bit cheaper at Ibuypower and some parts are even better (i think. i'm very ignorant on this).

so if y'all could look at the builds they gave mt at AVS, and what i'm thinking about at IBP, i'd really appreciate it. i think i could even bring the IBP build down cheaper. like do i really need the Asus Sabertooth mo if i'm not going SLI? i do want to futureproof and may go SLI sometime, but it's an xtra $173. by the time i wanna go sli i might just need a whole new mobo. and IBP has a good upgrade to the 660 3gb gpu. is the 670 4gb that much better for $278?? so if you could look at the IBP build, tweak it, add subtract whatever. i'd love to get it down to around $2000 shipped. or if ya think it's be better to go with the AVS parts and let Microcenter build it, or even something totally different, then let me know.

thanks for lookin and the build is in the next post.

edit: damn. don't know why that video is big like that. just meant to leave the link.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUzRwEYolrU

Greetings :o)

The system itself doesn't look too bad. They are buffing up the lines of "things" you get by displaying what ASUS has built into the MB.

The i7 is a wonderful CPU and an ASUS MB combo is hard to beat.

The memory is really good. although it is at low capacity in the quad configuration.

Go with the Upgraded power supply- Corsair = Quality

As for the SSD's, you will be losing a lot of storage space if you don't have a decent capacity HD. The speed (RPM/ Gb's/ average read/write) is/are not necessarilly determined by RPM or transfer rate, etc. Usually both are a good indication, but you really have to watch benchmarks on HD's if you want a really good hard drive. See TomsHardware.com to look at specific components.

The video solution /GPU is a good choice. I love the gpu.

You have selected a good set of hardware devices and components. I would suggest to buy them fast before they become obsolete. ; :P

Tengu, thanks but i'm in the U.S. and i don't think they deliver here. their FAQ shows some European countries but not the US.

Brandy, thanks! if i may ask ...

" They are buffing up the lines of "things" you get by displaying what ASUS has built into the MB" - not sure what this means??

"The memory is really good. although it is at low capacity in the quad configuration." - is the a better memory i should get?

a lot of the choices i made were because they had "specials" on them. free upgrades ect. like the harddrives. i chose 2 SSDs only because an upgrade from a 120gb SSD to a 256gb SSD seemed good. are they brands crappy? should i NOT have 2 SSDs, but instead 1 SSD and maybe a 1 3 TB normal HDD?

and i really did not want water cooling, but i've checked other places like this (Cyberpower, AVAdirect) and seems like they are REALLY pushing watercooling. for instance, in that build of mine, air cooling isn't even an option. i did another config w/ a z77 3770K setup and it had 1 option for air, but it was very unattractive compared to the multiple water options. like the air option had no upgrades or fan choices. i'd always heard that watercooling was an expensive option but seems they're trying to give it away now. it is a cheap options in the builds.

so ya think i should stick w/ the 670 4gb rather than the 660 3gb which is on special for $278 less? and stay w/ the ASUS Sabertooth mobo (extra $173) even tho i'm not going SLI any time soon?

thanks again!

Future proof computer? No such thing. It is cheaper to buy a £400 computer now, and another £400 computer in three or four years rather than to splurge, like, £800 or £1000 now.

Really, the I5 2500K is only around 25% under heavy circumstances (I.E, building a 8KPixel heightmap with a gajillion erosion modifiers in WorldMachine), but in actuality, it's not that big a difference.

The same applies to that IvyBridge I5, it's around 30-35% faster in certain applications. People who are nay-sayers either over-clocked the intel processor to 4.5GHz+ speeds with expensive water coolers, and never did the same for an AMD CPU.

Seriously, just get the 965, and when the amd HD 8000 series comes out in a year, nab the 7850 for cheap. The 7850 is around £220, and the 6850 is £85. When the 8000 series arrives, the 7850 will cost £85. Just buy the HD 8000 series in a year and you'll have saved yourself £50.
