HELP! CTD ON STARTUP!

So I just recently made the decision to switch back to oldrim from special - partly due to that annoying RaceMenu update, party due to just wanting to go back to Oldrim, blah blah blah - but seem to be encountering a bizarre issue of CTD before even reaching the title screen.

 

For a bit of history lesson, I've never been able to play oldrim for more than five minutes into a file before it CTD. Never really figure out why. Always assumed it was a mod confliction of some kind, but I've refreshed my mod list several times with various...well, variations, but to no avail.

 

So this time, I elected to just delete everything. Every data file, every ini, the launchers, everything. Uninstalled Skyrim and SKSE through Steam and then reinstalled. I launched Skyrim, managed to make a character and get all the way through Helgen. I figured it seems to be working okay so far. Installed SKSE. Another test. I then set to work reacquiring my mod list. I'm up to about 170 esps, and did a fast test between each dozen or so. Everything seemed to be working just fine. Granted, I'd only play a few minutes at a time just to check for errors and such, assuming it was working properly the whole time.

 

So now that I've finished, I went ahead and got myself an ENB. I'm familiar with ENBs, so I figured I didn't really need to make sure it was working properly - though, I can assure you that isn't the issue, as I deleted it and launched and nothing changed - and got the necessary ENB patches I needed with my visual mods.

 

Now all of a sudden, when I launch SKSE, it brings up Skyrim, hits the "Bethesda Game Studios" screen where the intro music begins to play, and then crashes. I tried launching through steam, through the folder, no change. I tried launching without SKSE, and it didn't even load the game at all. I have no idea what the cause is as LOOT seems pretty confident my load order is fine (which I will post here)

 

I do also want to mention, in case it's any help, that when I verify game integrity/local files, it says there's a missing file but then doesn't download anything. I'm about to try uninstalling and reinstalling, and then I've got a few CTD fix tutorial videos to go through, but I figured I'd shoot my post down here in case someone has any direct suggestions

From what I can tell, Vortex shouldn't be screwing anything up.

Personally, it sounds like you need to adjust some of the ENB settings (can't really remember which settings though. By settings, I'm referring to that config file where you tell ENB to cap at a certain FPS, to use the water tree reflection fix... etc).

Edit: Saw that you had mentioned about removing ENB and it not working. Unfortunately with Windows being Windows, unless if you've reset your computer, there's always a chance of something lingering in the memory that will cause the game to crash. Just thought I would clarify why I said it sounds like an ENB setting issue.

I should mention I use MO2, but I thought I'd ask here. Vortex is buggy, and though I pay premium, I like MO2 better so don't use Vortex. Not sure how much of a difference that makes.

that's hilarious. I already know enough to say for certain all your issues are user created. but vortex is buggy. yeah. right.

You need to resolve this first before you do anything else. Otherwise, nothing is jumping out at me in your load order.

Have you tried restarting your computer?

Do you have the memory edits in your skse.ini?

Does the load order in the left pane match the right pane in MO?

The only other suggestion I have is to start disabling mods, one at a time, until the game will start. For mods that have patches (RDO, CoT, etc) disable the main mod and the patches all at once.

Vortex is buggy. The way it was designed is...bizarre. It occasionally misplaces downloaded files, or even revokes its own access to your data folder - personally never encountered this issue, but I know of three people who did - and I've had issues with it communicating its library with LOOT - granted, I've run afoul of a similar experience with MO currently, telling me I didn't have Beyond Skyrim - Bruma installed even though I did, but that's irrelevant.

Your claim that all my issues are user created is baseless at best. Unless you can provide something useful to this topic, you're entirely worthless.

I wouldn't have brought my issues here if I hadn't done all the default stuff. Yes, I restarted my computer. I even uninstalled and reinstalled both Skyrim and Steam. I have the edits in my skse.ini, to allocate more memory. Everything seems matched up by MO. Considering I do playtesting to make sure things work every few mods, I'm not sure how much that's going to help.

Generally, you'd be correct. However, since neither MO nor LOOT can detect that I'm missing any masters, that isn't the issue. It isn't a memory issue, either, since I have SSME and have done the edits in my configuration files.
