mkta
Hey guys, I'm having some problems with my skyrim. It's kinda a fresh install of skyrim and kinda new savegame (only a few hours played)and lots of mods installed. I have to mention that i have uninstalled some mods since i started this new savegame so i think there is some script remained or something that is causing the problem. I tried to look in the log file but i couldn't understand much. The log contains 40 mins of gameplay and there is a lot of errors. The problem is that after kinda 30-40 mins of playing, the game become to have 1-2 sec freezes at random time then the game or just freeze and i have to force close it with task manager or CTD. Here is the log file : http://www.mediafire.com/?r5vdss8osf3or30 (63.1 mb) Hope someone will take the time to look and maybe have some ideea what is wrong, i tried everything i could think of but still i have the problem. Thank you, mkta
Mujuro
A few comments: You also need to provide a link to your NUMBERED load order, or the logs are very difficult to decipher. For example, there are errors relating to binding a script to 950061FF. What mod is loading in position 95?The fact that you have a 63mb+ log, in and of itself, is problematic. What are you using for load order and mod management? Note that the two are DIFFERENT.You've very obviously installed/activated and subsequently deactivated and uninstalled mods, but you either failed to do so 'cleanly' and/or didn't follow the mod author's instructions on how to uninstall and/or the mods themselves are problematic when you uninstall them. Without more info on what you did and what mods you're using, I can't say which of these it is, or some combination thereof. My initial guess, based on the limited information you provided, is that Skyrim on your particular computer ran out of resources so that it could no longer keep the game running with all the errors in the background. The reason for the random freezes *could* be from the repeated errors and checks from scripts going on (yes, there are A TON of them), but they could also be from running more mods, texture packs, etc., than your rig can handle. Or, again, a combination thereof.
Georgiegril
Just to add to Mujuro's excellent points, trying to fix a game that has multiple errors caused by mods being incorrectly removed is like trying to put the head back on a chicken after you chopped it off. Especially since it is a newish savegame, you may be better off just cutting your losses and starting with a new game, in which you carefully install mods one at a time exactly according to the mod author's instructions, running BOSS after each addition, and playing the game for a while to test before adding the next (and, if needed uninstalling exactly as the mod author instructs as well.)Bben's help blog has a lot of useful information that can help you set up your game and mods so that you do not repeat your mistakes. It takes some time up front, but the payoff is you aren't trying to hunt down the cause of crashes all the time, you actually get to play the game. mkta
Thank you guys. I worked a little on my mods after what you told me guys and i uninstalled some mods that i thought was causing problems (some that was adding decals and soem that was adding lots of NPC..i noticed that mods that add lots of NPC kinda causes problems with my game).. i didn't test it proper yet but i played 30-40 mins with no problems. Still i have to test it more. For just info i'm using Nexus Mod Manager and using the load order from NMM installing (i try to install them in proper order or if i need to then change the load order manually via NMM..i think this could be a problem?). Also at uninstalling i follow always the mod author's instructions to avoid problems (after the patch 1.6 with my original savegame unable to play because was massed up i understood what i have to do). Indeed my rig is just an laptop without much power to handle but the game runs smooth..ish.. and then suddenly freezes and after a while the freezes starts CTD or final freeze, mostly CTD. Also i noticed that something was really wrong because usually my logs have 2-9 mb after 1-2h of playing. It happened once before fresh install and new savegame to have 200 mb ... Also a new game start kinda doesn't sound nicely to me ... i still have 20h+ on it ... it is new..ish because my last one had 100h+ but if problems keep going i will start a new game Any way, hopefully i wont have any more problems but if i have more problems ill post more information. Thank you again. Edited September 8, 2012 by mkta
Mujuro
@mkta You should try using BOSS to handle your load order unless you really, really know what you're doing in terms of manual ordering of mods. In terms of log size, that you're experiencing is highly unusual. There are a few mods where authors are a bit verbose in terms of dropping comments for debug purposes (which IMHO is not a bad idea), but even then, your log size is HUGE. I rarely play for more than a couple hours at a time, but I can't remember a single instance where my log was over 500k much less 2mb+. In terms of mods adding a lot of objects (particularly NPCs), that really goes to (i) what the underlying Skyrim game engine can handle effectively, as well as (ii) your laptop. You may have just been overburdening your laptop.
