lee0andre33
I have been downloading mods for starbound and have tried to get Vortex to recognize the mods I downloaded from the starbound workshop. The issue appears to be that Vortex is completely unable to detect the mods even though they exist in the same folder. I want to use the mods from the workshop and some manually downloaded mods because, the mod selection in the workshop seems much better than that that exists with Nexus. My question is, is Vortex Mod Manager capable of recognizing mods from the steam workshop? I would appreciate some answers.
rmm200
Not sure what you are looking for. Steam has no need to recognize Steam Workshop mods. It certainly won't manage them. All you care about is does the game recognize them.Vortex does not even need to be running. Start your game the way you normally do. DoctorKaizeld
No but you don't really need it to since it serves little purpose to manage mods that are already managed
lee0andre33
But if the workshop mods are not shown then how do I know there are not any mod conflicts? I'd rather not go without workshop mods as the selection is much better.
DoctorKaizeld
I don't play starbound and so don't know if it has a built in manager but if you want you could just manually add them. Actually you could remove the files from the mod location and then uninstall them from steam and then readd the files as well.
lee0andre33
Starbound does not have a in-built mod manager, unfortunately Vortex Mod Manager won't recognize the mods even if I remove and attempt to readd the mods to the game files. Any other ideas?
rmm200
You will not find a manager that can identify conflicts with mods installed outside that manager.Once you install a Steam Workshop mod - it no longer exists as a distinct mod. It's parts are scattered all over your game directory. Vortex would have no way to know what was part of that mod - and what wasn't.

lee0andre33
I know that all the files that exist in my starbound mods folder are the mods because I checked it myself through steam, steam identified them, but vortex could not even when those files were in the same folder. The same applied to steam too as it could not identify any of the mods downloaded by vortex mod manager. Though it might work if I packaged the files into a zip folder and manually downloaded them so i'll try that.
lee0andre33
For some reason when I browse local files through steam I can't find any of the mods to extract, it's like the mods don't even exist when I look at the workshop folder, it seems that steam is doing something to obscure the location of the mods. I even went through the files without steam and there were none of the mods in the workshop folder. Now I think I understand why Vortex Mod Manager can't detect the mods as it's feasibly impossible to do so.
