Akulakha
Hello everyone. I was wanting to ask for some advice from anyone on a sale I'm considering. I have a close friend of mine who is selling me a computer for 400 dollars. I've been looking to upgrade and was wondering if this computer was good enough to handle 'very realistic' skyrim textures? Specs:- Cooler master Hyper 212 Evo cpu cooler- Gigabyte GA 990FXA UD3 R5 ATX AM3 Motherboard- EVGA Supernova G2 850 W 80+ Gold certified fully modular atx power supply- Currently has 8 gigs of ram tho I may have ram in my old computer to bring it up to 16gb.- Has 2 GPU's: nvidia 970 ftw and 970 sc.- The cpu is AMD - FX- 8350 4 GHz 8 Core Processor- video card is EVGA Geforce gtx 970 4 gb superclocked acx 2.0 video card. Compared to mine which is -16 gb ram-nvidia gtx 660 What do you guys think? Will this run very realistic skyrim graphics? c0ax599
Dude, what are the CPU's? Right off the bat with a AM3+ mobo, i can tell you that's old. Mine is from 2012, but I am still running it and playing Skyrim SE with: .:01:32:28:. «@c02» OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro - (10.0.17134)UP: 3wks 4days 7hrs 39mins 42secsMainboard Vendor: ASRockMainboard Name: 970 Extreme4 (AM3+)CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Processor (x64) at 3300MHz (30% Load)GFX: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti -1.00MB RES: 1360x768 32bit 60HzRAM: 6617/16357.7MB (40.45%) [||||------]HDD: Total: 776.53GB/4.24TBNET: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller _2 - 100MB/s 13.67GB In 2.05GB Out The only reason I am able to play Skyrim SE at 60FPS with this older machine is the EVGA Geforce GTX 1050 ti I bought in 2017. It replaced two (SLI) Asus Geforce 550 ti's and blows that old sli away! You didn't mention Vid cards on the machine you gonna buy.. Imho, for $400 ..... add a little and you could get a newer faster machine. But, what you Should do! Is use the $400, and buy it peicemeal! And then build it yourself. Not that hard man. Reasearch with Google or DDG , and make sure all the parts work together. As in mobo, chip and ram mainly!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those are really what we're talking about!!! That's the main things. Then add a vid card, and whatever else. You can always use older drives etc... Till you can afford new a one.Might take a little longer that way, Or you could save the money till you can buy parts for a working machine. Then build it all at once. Sorry for your friend, I'd be wary of buying someone else's old machine, tbh. Even a friend.my 2¢c0AX599 Edited July 8, 2019 by c0ax599

c0ax599
That's not a bad little CPU. Better than my Phenom II Hexacore. In fact, yea, it'll plug right into my old mobo! I saw one on newegg yesterday for $65us. The 970, from what i've heard is pretty close to the 1050 ti. 8 gb of system ram is a little slim... I dunno man, might not be a bad deal. Definitely gonna cost you a little more to build your own. Not too much though really. I've always built my own. IBM = I Built Mine!! And you can always re-use the spare parts to eventually build another.. That's how I ended up with 4 working machines, Win10 on this, 2 are linux, one XP... And 4 older ones in the closet that will boot up and run. Dos up to win98se.... It's like a fever. Build one and ya wanna build another! Good luck man! Happy computing! fraquar
The only issue with building your own PC is you have to be aware of the high flux in GPU prices, which has been going on for a while now with the whole cryptomining issue. Today, I couldn't even find a used GPU for the price I bought mine new less than 2 years ago. Personally, I'd always recommend to buy/build your own, and get help if you need it. Just need to be aware of the market before hand, the most volatile are the memory and GPU markets.
