TPex
Iv had this great idea... what if you payed about ten gold coins and got to watch a play at a theatre based on one of many books in oblivion like the Lusty Argoninan Maid or The Wolf Queen or of your own creation? So my idea would kind of be like an:Theatre BuildingProgrammed productionsPosters? Ja so what do you modders think?
Triforce1
This would be a big project. The building itself would require some new meshes to be truly called a theater. And do you realize how much scripting would be necessary? Also, voice acting would be mandatory so that you could understand what was going on. New animations would be a must sooner or later. To be decent, the plays would need to be like five minutes long, average. And each of those would take all the aforementioned work, over again. I'm not trying to put you down; I love the idea of an "Imperial Theatre". But with all the necessary work I doubt it would ever come to fruition. ihateregisteringeverywhere
More people like the idea actualy, a similar matter was discussed here not so long ago. However the sheer amount of work behind such a mod is staggering. Hah, just look at the scripts and quests that take care of your escape from the imperial prison. The whole thing's scripted as a stage (no wonder though, considering there's no other way of doing it). Timers! Animations! Strange talking scripts! It's all there. It's complicated. It's long - yet only a few lines of dialogue worth. A whole play? Several ones even? And making them so that theese different plays wouldn't colide with each other? I want to see the band of crazies that makes such a thing true.
Minameisearl
honestly it probably requires lots of people, for dialougenew animations (so people arent standing there talking) as well as acting out scenes in a playa clapping animation(not that stupid over the head animation) opening curtain animationa brand new mesh for the theaterbrand new texture....blah blah blah ummm thats a lot of work...but if somebody is up for it... TPex
And I dont think you will need new textures for the theatore, thats the modders choose
Germandeathkittiez
I think an outdoor theater would be nicer. And slightly easier. How about a traveling theater?
VincentAlliath
I think an outdoor theater would be nicer. And slightly easier. How about a traveling theater?YES. Traveling theater is win. It wouldn't be hard to script, either. I mean... the Countess of Chorrol? travels on the ides of every month. I've seen her in the Wilderness occasionally. Anyway. The meshes would still need to be made, although having it outside would help. They could perform, and you could give them tips, like giving beggars money. After shows, they could receive a random amount of money, and then anything you give them. This could possibly be stolen? They return to a small mansion/house that they all live in, with a build that is similar to a inn with multiple levels. I can already see a quest with it. Fame = <x amount> (say... 10?) and some dude will come up to you and ask you for help. He wants your help to start his own traveling circus. So you help him, and you need to hire actors (you don't pay them). They'll have a runner, or perhaps city liaisons who often scout the towns for danger. If a certain place is too dangerous at the time (which would be random), then they'll send a runner to you with a message, saying that they need you as a guard. So basically, you watch the play and if anybody tries to kill them, you intervene. It would be obvious, like clothes, or other behaviour. For example, the person advancing from far away. People drawing weapons. Magic sounds. Eventually, you start getting your cut of the money... This could be good.
zeralesaar
As Vincent stated, lots of potential here. I also believe there's a resource somewhere for certain outdoor tents. Retexture those and upscale them, and you don't necessarily need a new stage mesh. Helping organize the circus could be a fun and rewarding mini-quest, too... Animations from the Vanilla game would be great for simple conversations, etc., while idles from the many pose packs would be good for certain more complex scenes, authors' permission given, of course. Fight scenes could be done with zero-stat gear and scripts to prevent guard response...maybe the training animations? Lots of potential, and if the resources given to us by Beth and community are used efficiently, the only hard part will be the ludicrous amount of complex scripting. VincentAlliath
AND... We also have me as a writer! This could be a bit of a kickstart for my writing career in Oblivion.
