wodger
Hi, Searched the forum and only found 1 case of this...http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/632973-lighting-problem/page__p__4993187__hl__female+texture__fromsearch__1#entry4993187 Decided to try a female character for a change, and found this problem showing seam lines along lit areas, at first I thought it was a mod, but after disabling all mods, this "lighting issue" still is present only on the females (males don't appear to suffer it).I tried on the laptop and it too suffers this problem - both running Nvidia graphics with the latest drivers (R300 series) so appears to be an Nvidia issue. Has anyone got a solution to this? Rgds Pete
wodger
Looked at my screenshots and realised that it doesn't show the problem well, so I reinstalled skyrim with latest patches and Dawnguard too, started a fresh game - no mods at all, and used preset 2 for nord - this shot shows the problem clearly. I've tried all the settings in the skyrim control panel for graphics to see if this solves it - to no avail. I've never noticed this before as never played a female character. Have not noticed this with the female npcs before either - but wasn't looking as close when playing. Not sure what is going on here...its like the shadow doesn't blend well creating a scab :P Only when next to point light sources such as candles, and when casting flames. SFBryan18
It's a glossy effect probably because the female textures and meshes are smoother. I noticed it a long time ago, like a plastic effect near light, but never considered that it could be fixed.

Thanks for the reply - its just surprised me when casting flames and this "Glossy effect" makes bare arms look strange: Someone mentioned this particular effect a while ago, but put it down to the CBBE mod by Caliente as the cause, as he said the vanilla females did not show this effect. I did try changing to a different texture before using CBBE and UNP, but they show the same effect - bit of an annoyance really. So does this mean, make sure no skin showing? :P Pete
SFBryan18
Well, I use the UNP for all the females in the game, but I play as a male so it doesn't bother me as much. Perhaps just find some nice gloves. Maybe something like the Princess of the Woods outfit. I mean, you probably don't plan on playing naked. Jellicent
It seems really to be some texture problem. You could maybe try to use some skin texture mods and see if it changes anything.I'm using an ATI gfx card so I can't really help you about the nVidia thing. I once played Skyrim on my old rig which was with a Palit GTX 460Platinum, I had no problems with anything back then. I didn't use any mods back then, either. (Now I use around 60 mods.)The only thing you could look for would be a custom driver or a driver solution for Skyrim around the internet. Maybe you'll find something handy. Make sure to back up your system though. I wish I would remember the name of the awesome custom driver I once installed for nVidia.. It solved many problems and increased stability and performance. Nobody wants to use a magnifying glass to read it. I'm not even trying myself because it's not worth giving myself a headache for. Not trying to be rude, it's just very difficult to see what you have to say.

Staind716
Lol, I can read that one! I wear contacts. We must have different prescriptions. Seriously though, it does help quite a bit. Thanks for cutting down the strain on my poor old eyes. Edited September 12, 2012 by Staind716
