blender Problems

Okay,

well, at the time I'm trying to do armor mashups in Blender. I've followed this, actually very good, tutorial http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/227460-creating-armor-mashups-in-fallout3-with-blender/

But everytime I try to export the model

1. blender refuses to export because "multiple bones" with the same name exist

or

2. if I'm sucessful with exporting and try to load it in the GECK the armor is invisible and a weird black spot is shown at the edge of the mesh view window

The funny thing is that I was sucessful one time creating an mash up that worked. But I can't remember how I did this.

I would be really glad if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong.

number 1: Delete the existing skeleton (switch to block view to make it easy to see) and then highlight every in object mode (A) import a fresh skeleton and export.

number 2: Is probably because you did not export with the skeleton.

It still don't works.

I tell you how I try to make it all the time:

1. Select an base mesh. I skip that part with the body mesh because I want to create Vault suit armor variants and theres no bare skin.

2. delete all the armatures (as far as I understood these things are the original skeleton)

3. add the .nif file I want to attach and remove its armature too for example the combat armor chest piece form the Spad mod.

4. delete the cube mesh that is always shown in blender (if I keep it blender refuses to export)

5. select all meshes and import skeleton and parent it with selected

6. keep all meshes and skeleton selected and export

then it goes like this:

7. export sucessful

8. loading in GECK just to see the mesh is completly invisivle and an weird black stripe/spot, wich I assume is somehow the mesh, is seen on the edge of the window.

I also found a program message:

niftools.blender.export:WARNING:Changing extension from to .nif on output file.

I'm not sure if this is an usual message or an error message.

But thanks for the help so far.

  • 2 years later...

After you have opened Blender, press the "a" key twice to highlight all. Press the "m" key to open the move box. Select one of the boxes to which you want to move the camera, cube and light and left click "OK". This will remove them from the view screen.

Do not delete the armatures, just add the pieces you want to use. Now parent the added pieces to the existing skeleton and bone weight them. You can now erase the vertex of the vault suit that will not show using the edit screen.

After you are done, go back to the object screen, press "a" and export the result.

Open the altered vault suit in NifSkope and make the necessary changes to the BSShaderPPLightingProperty. Save the changes.

Hope this helps.
