Kasey24
Back again.... So we're holding our own against the Archdemon, when he runs off and a hoard of darkspawn start spewing out from somewhere. The dwarves that were coming out to fight the Archdemon seem to disappear just when we need them. The darkspawn keep overwhelming my little party without re-enforcements. How do I call the backups? They don't seem to respond by clicking on the army picker.
Kasey24
Never mind....... I changed to the elven army and doubled down on the ballista towers and things went quite nicely. Well, except for that Archdemon vs. grey wardens curse thingy. But an awesome ending nonetheless.
Sync182
Personally, I save the mages for the tower fight against the archdemon - only 12 of them and I've always had at least 2 left at the end. Rogues using the ballistae is a huge benefit, too - the "lockpick" skill is invaluable for when they jam. Edited September 13, 2012 by Sync182

Thandal
And I take the opposite approach and don't bother fighting anything other than the AD. I mostly try to keep anyone else in the Party from dying because they're too gung-ho to watch out for themselves while my Rogue (whichever one I have with me at the time) engages with the ballista. At an average of 100+ points of damage per hit, it doesn't take too many strikes to bring Archie to the point where even Zevran can trigger the final cut-scene.
johnm
If you take down AD fast with the ballista your way works cool.To me I am in no hurry kill AD there is shortage of good things to kill in this game.As a rule I try not to use the ballista and I always start to get over run by darkspawn before AD dies.I try for a 2200+ kill count in game also. Vaalyah
I had not used any of the army available at all... I've called one group at the Enclave *after* defeating whatever darkspawn around. So they were just there, standing and looking around. When I've entered the other areas, I still have the possibility to call also those I've already "used". At the end, I had forgotten about the armies and so... well, I've killed everything with my small party  The worst thing has been having Earl Eamon around in the final battle. I've spent more time healing him, trying to prevent him from being killed, than actually killing enemies. Useless NPCs...
