gloomfrost
Think this is the right place, i think this classic deserves a home on the best mod site on all the internets! (wait is that a real word?)With Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition coming out next week we need a place for mods and the game will be very mod friendly. Thanks for your ear! Hickory
I would be all for that. There are various BG modding sites, but nothing as centralised as the Nexus, and most are either no longer, or poorly (old game) maintained. Just think what the Nexus could do for such a superlative classic, with the Enhanced Edition around the corner. It would be tantamount to criminal to have the likes of World Of Tanks and Dungeon Defenders Nexus, but no Baldur's Gate Nexus, the greatest RPG classic of all time. Let's just hope Robin has a soft spot for BG. ;)
Millenia
If it is indeed modder friendly, I'd love that. <3 Baldur's Gate

A few mods have pointed some directions for us, such as the widescreen mod." Oh, and another one:"Pre-sales just passed my target" :)
Rasekov
Sorry for reviving an old topic but seemed more relevant than creating a new one. Any news on this? BG:EE is out and a few minor mods are starting to appear in different forums, plus some big ones(SCS comes to mind) are due to arrive in 3-4 weeks, it would be nice to have a nexus instead of searching 6/7 forums for news. Interesting read. I'm guessing BG is in the spreadsheet mentioned there but never fulfilled the criteria for a nexus, I guess we'll have to hope then that the EE changes that in some way. I don't see EE changing a thing. It's just a mega mod that had funding. I was SO disappointed in it. :armscrossed: PS: I guess it was the hype of an 'Enhanced' version, when in reality the only truly new (visible) feature was the Black Pits (pfft!) -- new quests, characters and voices have already been done in mods, and the fixed screen (no options) is damned awful. I would have uninstalled it even if I hadn't payed over twelve GBP for it.

I would have uninstalled it even if I hadn't payed over twelve GBP for it. True, I'm actually very disappointed too. It shipped filled with bugs, the support forums have 0 developer presence, it didn't fulfill a lot of promises and the PC version most of the time seems like an afterthought of the iPad one(they didn't even test if the scroll wheel worked in a lot of menus...). But that's not actually the point, it's bringing people back to the game and introducing new players to it, at the same time it's encouraging a few new mods(nothing interesting right now) both by old time BG modders and new people so even if as a product I would qualify it as a failure right now, it's still a good thing for the community(that was mostly lethargic) and the release of BG2:EE will help to keep interest alive a bit longer. Overall, I agree with you that it's not worth the price, much less if like me you preordered very early and got absolutely nothing(even after being promised ""stuff for preorders"") but as long as they get their s*** together and fix most of the new bugs I will likely buy the next one even if it's just to play around with the new mods people come up with. IsharaMeradin
As a former Baldur's Gate (BG) modder, I would think that the Nexus is not a good home for BG modding. None of the current tools used to mod BG are or were designed or developed by the game developer. Even to this day they are still learning what various data bits of each of the files do and it has been more years than I can count since the initial release of BG. The only official modding tool released was a script compiler intended for use with player party AI. It worked locally but wasn't designed with sharing in mind. I quit BG modding as the Enhanced Edition was being developed. I don't know much about it or how it works. All I know is that I informed the people who did ask about using my mod content in BG:EE that they could not use my work. The number one reason being that my mod was designed for BG while BG:EE was supposed to be on an improved BG2 engine. Much of my work (and those who contributed to my project) wouldn't have ran or ran properly if simply lumped into the mix. They could get ideas from, but they had to use their own tools to replicate and not use my actual work. During that process I did get the funny feeling that BG:EE would turn out to be "a mega mod" that didn't need to be installed on top of an existing installation.
