How can I unlock static usable items?

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but here it goes:

Just a week ago, I downloaded Snow Elf Palace onto my Skyrim game. Beautiful! Spectacular! Regal! Look at all those bottles of wine! I'll just help myself to...

What? I CAN'T GRAB IT!!!!

This place is just loaded with goodies: food, wine, ingots, potions, soul gems, you name it. The problem is that these items cannot be touched, they are there for show.

The question is: how can I unlock these? Or do I have to learn how to create my own personal mod? I hope not, as I am NOT computer savvy. I have found this problem on other player home/castle/manor mods such as the impressive Proudspire Manor Mod. There were a LOT of empty containers, chests, closets and so on, but this is not a big deal for me.

Basically, what it comes down to is that there are two types of objects in the game: dynamic and static (or movable and non-movable, if you will).

Dynamic objects can be picked up, static ones cannot.

Many mod authors choose to use static meshes for decoration because they can't be accidentally knocked around or misplaced. It certainly is annoying, but the game has several bugs and quirks that cause loose dynamic objects to go flying. Imagine if you walk in the door and suddenly the carefully-arranged bottles go flying around the room!

Unfortunately, the only "fix" would be to replace each of the static objects with their dynamic counterparts one-by-one. It's exactly as hard as it sounds, and likely most mod authors wouldn't like to do all that.

However, if you have a few spare hours, it wouldn't hurt to see if you can't do a few yourself. Opening up the Creation Kit is certainly a bit scary at first, but there's a metric poopton of tutorials out there, including the official ones at the Creation Kit Wiki. You don't have to be computer savvy, you just need to be able to follow directions and click on things. It's easier than you might think - that is, as long as you save often and make backups!

So, looks like it's going to be the old "make your own" eh? SO BE IT! The Elfking knows what must be done!

This is a very good place to start.

Doing the 4 lessons can take you from never having modded anything, to making very good player homes.
