Mod to give your player a voice

I know the idea of not having a voice for your player is because it's supposed to be YOU, but I think it sounds stranger to hear everyone else talk and your character just responds with a selection of written responses. I'd like to see a mod that gives several different voices that you can use for your character. I have no idea to do voice mods, or I would do it.

Interesting idea, but I have to say that it sounds like a whole lot of work, since you would have to record dialogue for every single line that you can say to an NPC. Double those lines for male/female voices, and even further multipliers if you choose to do alternate voices for different races.

I suppose you could reduce the workload if you used some text-to-audio software, but I haven't heard any that don't sound like a robot.

As an extended idea to this, would it be possible to add voice control to the game? By using a mic to "speak out, one of your conversation options". Somehow make it possible to recognize key words in the options to match with what you said to take the correct option.

This would also require a lot of work, but it would not need the use of voice actors and every player could sound as they want ( limited to what they can act like ). Or would this even be possible?

As much as I endorse the idea, I think it's made so that other characters respond immediately after you click the dialogue option, so a voiceover would either override their response or make them play at the same time, which sucksies.

But I would love if your character spoke occasionally some ambient dialogue, like most NPCs do.

I do realize the 100s of hours of work that would be involved...probably the reason such a mod doesn't exist. The voice over would be cool, but my original thought would be for you to select a dialogue option, then you hear your character speak the words. The NPC would respond after you finish talking or asking your question. Simple idea...complicated (many hours to make) solution.

Actually, I sort of heard my char's voice a couple of times: Dovahkiin Relaxes Too added a link to some voiced NPCs in his greetings idle. Meaning if you approach an NPC and uses Relax power on him/her, you can actually hear yourself say "hello" or "can I help you?". The result is quite nice - it really fleshes out your character a bit.

That's when I thought it might be feasable to create a "bank" of voiced lines which could fit a small number of situations at the start rather than trying to voice all the lines your character may have to say. Greeting lines could be a start, or addressing a merchant before fencing, or asking Adrianna to move aside when you want to use the Whiterun Forge, or simply shout "honey, I'm home" when you return to your house... Or stuff we probably all already said out loud when these soldiers keep asking if we bring beer to the Companions: "I'm the Companions' Master, you moron!". We probably could answer the "arrow in the knee" line too...

There could be 2 different kinds of lines: the ones that could be voiced without clicking on another character (using another kind of power word, for instance), and the ones, very short ones not to override NPCs' lines, that could be used to inititate a conversation with that NPC. Just sharing thoughts here, guys...

I am no mod creator at all and would not have the first clue where to begin - but I'm a screenwriter, I can write lines and probably even manage to record them if anybody is interested...

Cheers to all from Paris :0)
