Leukar
Hello guys, a total noob posting  It's been YEARS since I played skyrim, but I wanted to start again and I wanted some mods to add a little variety to the game, but I saw that there's a separate section for the normal game and SE, and a looot more mods for the normal game. So, a few questions: - If I want to play the game again just for the mods, what would you recommend, normal +dlc or SE?- Is there a difference between the two versions?- I think the answer is no, but could I use a mod for the normal for the SE, or viceversa? I have the Special Edition, but i don't mind getting the other one, basically because i've seen a lot of interesting mods that I really want to try
Shadeybladey
Mods can be used only for the version for which they were designed. * Normal, or Vanilla * Vanilla + DLC (any number of the separate DLCs) * LE, Legendary Edition, which is basically "Vanilla + All DLCs" bundled and patched as a single product. * SE, or Second Edition, which is a newer version I do not have SE, although I was entitled to download it free. I've heard bad things about the version of the CK that goes with it, the Pay For Mods bulls*** and the way it works. I'd personally prefer LE, or Vanilla + DLC. There ARE more mods for the old versions, but they may not all have been updated. But then, they may not all necessarily need to be updated. And then it depends what mods you want to use. Personally, the Unofficial Skyrim Patches for the version you use are an absolute mustThen SkyUI, as I could not stand the original Konsole Kiddie interface. Then I really like things like SkyTest realistic animals,Realistic Needs and Diseases,Camping, cooking, hunting, survival mods,Alchemy (I made my own, but some cooking/craftng mods were massively expanded to include Alchemy)Crafting mods etcClimate mods etc, Wet 'n' Cold or whatever it is, snowy footprints etc, chopping down treesPocket Empire Builder for building strongholds etc. Some superb Housing mods with Teleporter pads in them made by a friend and not publicly availableMods for Multiple Companions, I forget the name now...a really superb Play as a Bard mod with some custom sound files i made, a few that overhauled Thieving skills etc. Skyrim was almost like being on holiday, with 15 companions at my Stronghold crafting away, dancing, mining, crafting, drinking, arguing, fighting etc. It was like they were really alive! I left a series of campsites all across the land, in case I ever went back that way. The secret is to decide exactly which sort of mods you want, and pick the best. Don't duplicate too much or have too much duplication of purpose, nothing overlapping too much and don't overload your system. Personally, I hated climate and flora mods that made Skyrim look tropical. I preferred those that made it actually work like I was in that climate and i adjusted the in-game timer so fatigue, hunger and drunkeness gave me realistic playing times,. rather than having to eat every 20 moinutes or something stupid. I did not even have many graphics mods. But the one that added insects and butterflies, yes! I used them in my Alchemy and Mithril crafting mods. Good luck :D PS Oh, a customised user interface with Categorised Favorites Menu was another essential. Took a lot of customisation, but I really liked it. saurusmaximus
- If I want to play the game again just for the mods, what would you recommend, normal +dlc or SE?I still run LE, just because it has a few mods that haven't been (or can't be) ported to SSE. You said you already have SSE, so unless you found some mods that are only on LE that you simply must try, there really isn't any reason to switch. Is there a difference between the two versions? They are both Skyrim, the only meaningful difference is SSE runs on a 64bit engine, versus 32bit for LE, which means it can use more system memory without all the memory hacks that you have to use with LE. I think the answer is no, but could I use a mod for the normal for the SE, or viceversa? You are correct, you can't use LE mods in SSE (well sometimes you can, but if they aren't properly ported over, you will end up with a borked savegame) or vice-versa.
