jeff46
I'm new to Vortex and was trying to follow the Tutorial Videos which suggested installing one of the "Quality World Maps" as a first mod. It looked fine on the Mod page, but is flagged as an "Incompatible Plugin" on the Plugin page. Is there a SE version of the Maps? Do I need to disable the mod? Thanks in advance for any advice. Algabar
I'm new to Vortex and was trying to follow the Tutorial Videos which suggested installing one of the "Quality World Maps" as a first mod. Did you download the SE version? I'm using it since forever and never had any issues with it. In general: Only download mods from the "Special Edition" site here on the Nexus. A lot of mods from "Oldrim" can be ported to SE, but that's nothing I'd recommend for the beginning.
anjenthedog
I've seen several SE mods that have that same flag. It appears that some were not either updated correctly to convert form 43 to 44 or there are other legacy issues. I was surprised to see how many plugins in my game install have those flags (over a dozen, and NONE are from LE mods, ALL are from SE mods), but they don't *appear to be compromising my play, so idk... Contact mod authors and ask that they review their source code maybe. So while what Algabar said is correct advise...ie, make sure the mods is actually an SE version, that alone doesn't *seem to ensure they're up to snuff in all regards. I wonder if Nexus might be able to help out there. When a mod is submitted, could they perform some sort of qualifying tests to ensure it's actually SE compliant? (both the "mod" and its plugin(s) )
jeff46
As far as I can determine, I downloaded the SE version. Clicking on the link Algabar posted it notes that I downloaded that version on September 28, 2019. I also can agree with Anjenthedog that there be some checking to make sure the mod is SE compliant. Regardless, thanks to both of you for your prompt and helpful responses.
anjenthedog
Just a quick update with a listing of plugins affected in my own game as "evidence". AFAIK, these are all listed as SSE compliant mods on Nexus. Each shows the "Incompatible plugin" flag in Vortex. please forgive my formatting. Algabar
To clarify: Unfortunately there are indeed some mods in the "Skyrim SE" section of Nexus, that weren't converted properly. So you're definitely right: The fact, that something is uploaded for SE doesn't automatically mean it is really fully converted for SE. While this is annyoing, it isn't that problematic either. Plugins can easily be converted:- Download the SE CK from bethesda.net. It's free. You have to register, but Bethesda won't spam you with advertisements or anything. So not a big deal. - Once you installed the CK, open the plugins flagged as "incompatible" one by one in the CK. Hit "save". This updates the plugin format to .44. And that's it. Meshes and textures are a different story. But you can use Nifscan to check for issues. If needed, meshes can be converted to SE using Nif optimizer. It's a bit work work, but definitely doable. The load order above just goes to show that when people "port" a mod from LE to SSE, they are skipping one of the important steps of converting the ID of the ESP

Both are showing the "incompatible plugin" flag it appears I need to update or something. Your listed versions are different. Mine are ApachiiSkyHairMale_v_1_2 and ApachiiSkyHairFemals_v_1_5, not "optimized" (nor 1.6 for the female version. Thanks for that. I'll check and update as necessary for ApachiiSkyHair. Perhaps that's why they were changed out for the versions you show,
