Question about anonymous posting

A user from another site reported some strange behaviour of this forum when he tried to post a reply in a thread. The problem seems to be that he was logged into the file area, but didn't notice he wasn't logged into the forum, but the screen he saw led him to some suspicious conclusions.

Now, what it looks like to me is that this is a system to enable posting in a thread by a non-member. Is that supposed to be there?

 

When he tried entering his user name there, it rejected it, which I assume is because that's a valid user name, and anonymous posters should not be able to use the names of registered users. But he thought it meant it wanted his actual first name.

 

Is this an accurate assessment? I think if it's an intended feature, the text should be clarified.

One of the forum permission masks was messed up. Guests shouldn't be allowed to post at all. It should now be fixed :)
