Definitely up for these:

Brewery/Inn

Farm

Caravan

Mine/quarry - I always have loved managing mines in Oblivion. Obviously with mods.

SMUGGLING RING!

New Ideas:

Archaeologist company - Builds up and discovers valuable items that pay off and maybe eventually discovers huge dungeons or the such to explore that start a whole new quest.

For example, The Lost Spires - although it wasn't a business - was an AMAZING mod. It introduced a whole new tier of weapons and artifacts and the such along with a huge amount of lore to it and it was extremely well done. I would LOVE to see something like that done for Skyrim. If it was made into a business instead of a guild, that'd be pretty cool. Even better if it were both.

Well I didn't expect to receive that many ideas :P, I will update the list with the new ideas.

The first business is probably going to be the forge so I will do a lot of work on it and try to feature a good system with the ideas given in this thread, I really love them but I am not the most talented modder ( not yet anyways :P) so I will have to go slow and start small but I am sure as I learn, I will be able to add more complicated stuff in.

How about physicians/healers/herbalists?

I second that thought! I usually don't do alchemy, but I can't help myself picking up every perdy flower I see on the way... This way I can actually use them for something.

I actually agree. Every time I see injured people, such as in the temple of Kynareth, I put on my Heal Other spell and pretend like it's doing some good...

I had a thought... what about taking over the orphanage? Right now after Grelod gets whacked the kids and the assistant seem to be in kind of a bad place. You can move in and become headmaster, and then you can sell... that is, rent... I mean, adopt out your kids... ^^

1. Mercenary company. People would probably pay through the nose to have the Dovahkiin go and make that snooty Thalmor Justicar soil his underwear.

2. I second the healing business idea above.

3. For dark characters, mafia-style extortion and blackmail.

4. Author: read the Dovahkiin's autobiography, write and sell spell tomes/scrolls, maybe even create entirely new spell tomes to sell

5. Adventuring school (Lesson one: ALWAYS wear knee protection)

6. Maybe make being Arch-Mage of the College of Winterhold involve getting more students and earning money from fees

7. Hunting business: sell food and hides

8. Priest

9. If a vacancy comes up, become a Jarl's court wizard.

10. If Harbinger, get a cut of the Companion's profit.

11. Thu'um basics for those who aren't yet good enough to study with the Greybeards.

12. Building company: build houses, maybe when big enough repair Winterhold from the damage caused by the sea and Windhelm/Solitude from the Civil War.

And just for fun:

12. Keepsakes business: Dragonborn's first ever sword, yours for just 250 Septims!

13. Rollercoasters Skyrim-style. Ride Odahviing, 100 Gold a turn! Climb on the Dragonborn's back while (s)he uses Become Ethereal and jumps off the Throat of the World! Can YOU survive being hit with an Unrelenting Force? :P

Hey, you're a legendary hero, why not play off your fame, supernatural powers and cool buddies?

Expenditures:

If you multi-task and spend some effort, you're probably going to end up with mountains of gold, so:

1. Company headquarters

2, Contacts in government (friends in high places)

3. Ship(s) to ship your merchandise to other countries

Sounds like a great mod, how's it progressing?

Sounds great.

I like the idea of Healer and Herbalist ect

Love the idea of gang style work

The building company sounds good. Some kind of real estate? Maybe the next DLC will aid in that?

It all sounds great! but the one thing I always disrepair about is the lack of stuff to buy in Skyrim. Once you own a nice set of Weapons and Armor all the homes there not much else to buy. Maybe adding items to put on in the players home. or Privet alters. I dunno ^_^

Great ideas anyway!

A lot of nice ideas here thank you! I haven't start working on that mod yet, I still have to finish Jobs of Skyrim first, I am going to do an esp for each business and will probably start with a forge, if I am taking the forge that was originally included in Jobs of Skyrim then I would say that so far there is only a building and a profit chest that gives you 300g per day. Once I have more work done, I will do a WIP thread and release a demo probably. Atm I am just taking feedback from the community, my mods are really depend of feedback and what the community likes to see so I am trying to include those ideas when I can. The goal is to release between 10-15 business.
