riddledwithanswers
I used to be able to type in "help xx" and get back a ton of useful things to spawn and experiment with in console. Sometimes the returns were the exact opposite of useful and even game breaking. Lights and activators that were not able to be removed ever again. But sometimes, I'd stumble across a truly awesome trap door, or my own personal enchanting table. It would seem that things have changed quite a bit in the last eight years. I've hunted around and seen that my screen resolution can effect this, I know to use page up and down, I'm sure that my new ( and as of yet totally untouched ) dragonborn, hearthfire and dawnguard dlc will effect this (It would stand to reason that there is quite a bit more to search through). Perhaps my problem is that I actually like the feeling of digging through a pile of junk to find treasures. My bag is simply taking over Drela's cottage, killing him, and then deleting and spawning things until I am satisfied. Several times I have deleted critical items like walls etc, and had to start over, but again, that's what passes for fun in my book. I do fully comprehend that getting SKSE and the Creation Kit is the normal way to achieve results in an efficient and rational manner. That breaks my immersion though. I spend most of my time in this game as a mad Merlin type of character who has access to a confusing and random glimpse into the source code of the universe, and I feel that I have lost that feeling now that I have returned to this world with the Skyrim Anthology for Pc. The time I found a full tower interior and started tunneling under the cottage was the absolute best. I remember finding entire caves to spawn. Am I doing something incorrectly, and is there a way I can see results like I used to just by opening the console and searching, or should i just admit that I am old, and need to man up and buy my first digital copy of a game? TheGreatFalro
I'm not sure I understand what you're having trouble with. Are you not seeing a list of items when you use the help command? The help command should work just like it used to. Make sure you're using quotes for items with multiple words (i.e. help "iron armor"). Though I do have a mod to recommend: Jaxonz Positioner allows to move, adjust, and pick up and place down objects much easier:https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52583It's really essential for any Skyrim "home decorator". It used the numpad of your keyboard for controlling the object, so make sure you have one - pretty much all mainstream desktop keyboards do, though many laptops don't.With the positioner, any time you see an object you like, just look at it (or open the console and click on it), then press the enter button and you'll grab it. From then, you can use the arrow keys to move it around, the number pad numbers to rotate it, Page Up and Page Down to raise and lower it, Home and End to make it bigger or smaller, the * key on the numpad to copy it, and the - key on the numpad to pick it up. riddledwithanswers
Thank you for taking the time to respond thoughtfully. When I use the help command, it seems to return fewer results than it used to many years ago. The only thing that really pops up seems to be dlc objects (mostly hearthfire). When I spawn these objects (player.placeatrme) they are not static and I am able to pick them up. I had become accustomed to receiving many STAT, MISC, and ACTI objects, but now it seems to not return those. Keep in mind, when I originally played Skyrim, it was pre DLC. I was hoping that there was perhaps a way to search with a filter for specific categories like STAT and only return vanilla world objects. Again, thank you for you time, and if the real solution is getting SKSE and Positioner, it would change the way I play quite a bit. I might just rather play as a wood elf this time. Living in the out of doors with nothing but emptied out tree stumps and getting rained on. setangle x thank you. setpos z awesome. disable. enable. BlackRampage
Gonna second the use of Jaxonz Positioner for item placement. That said, if you wish to continue using the console, I'd highly recommend this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/44596definitely helps preventing accidentally disabling and/or deleting things you shouldn't. No idea about your main problem with the console though. Could try adding a "4" after your command. So, for example; "help XX 4".
riddledwithanswers
Thank you guys again for taking the time to reply. I FINALLY got brave and learned how to install SKSE, SKY UI, and some of JAXONS amazing work. It was well worth it. Opened up a whole new world. It looks like the mod that would satisfy my old desire is "more informative console". However, I'm down so many other rabbit holes that I don' t know what to get lost in first. Racemenu alone added so much immersion, and I was able to find a music overhaul by YGGDRASIL that added a whole fresh feel to everything. Bethesda and the Mod community as a whole kicks so much ass. This game IS video games to me. Be well!
