Wreatchedegg
So , like the idiot i am i ended up deleting the SkyrimPref.ini file located in the Skyrim folder no the one in the Documents ..as you can imagine , the game doesn't load now , it crashes immediately after (presumably) it finishes loading.i tried rerunning the ESV luncher to see if the file will get generated again , but it didnt , does anyone has a fix for this , perhaps a backup copy of your own Skyrimpref.ini , any help would be greatly appreciated.thanks a lot in advance. agerweb
Right click on the game in your steam list and select 'properties'. Then goto the 'Local Files' tab and select 'verify integrity of game files' steam will find it missing and redownload it along with any other ini files you have changed. saurusmaximus
The game usually will generate a new one the next time you start it up.<edit:what I mean is it's unusual that yours is not.> A good option for getting one that is properly tweaked is to use Bethini
TheGreatFalro
As others have said, verify the files with Steam. However, having just tested this, my Skyrim had no issues starting up and loading saves without a SkyrimPrefs.ini in the the Skyrim folder. Your issue is likely something else.
