Low framerates with powerful system

So I am running with a core AMD ryzen 1950x 16 core processor, 32 GB of RAM and two GTX 1080's in SLI. I am using a 21:9 3440x1440 monitor and run about 80 or so mods. I cant seem to find out why my PC cannot handle these mods as I see others with lower specs running much more demanding mod lists. I get around 25 FPS just walking throughout skyrim in general. I can post my modlist if anyone wants to help me diagnose the issue.

Remove the standard "high resolution textures", they only slow down everything, but do not improve anything ...

Unfortunately for you, Skyrim isn't optimized for mulit-core processors, so single-core performance is more relevant here.

 

Make sure you have the memory edits in SKSE

 

Set up ENBoost if you haven't already. Note you may have to use the Injector version to get it to work with your SLI setup.

 

I've never run an SLI setup myself, but I've read here that many folks have had better performance running Skyrim with SLI disabled; strictly an anecdotal observation, but I thought I'd mention it.

Your problem may be external to the game itself. I'd start by googling some optimize-for-gaming guides for tips on what processes or DPCs might be hogging resources.

 

I don't have as high-end a system as yours, but it was considered such when I got it back in 2016. Certainly should have handled a game from 2011. But I'd only get ~50 FPS outdoors (60 inside most buildings) and an unplayable 13-16 FPS in some dungeons. This was with no ENB, no grass/tree mods, and no high-resolution textures. My system was already pretty well optimized, but for audio rather than video (it's main function is as a DAW).

 

Then for grins I downloaded BethINI, the ini editor. I only made a few minor changes, including selecting the "High" preset, and shazaam! I now get 60 FPS almost everywhere, even those 13 FPS dungeons. It's worth a try; BethINI lets you easily roll back any changes you've made.

game on ultra everything maxed

right now 203 mods + bit reshade + re engaged enb

45-50 fps outdoors everywhere and constant 60 fps indoors everywhere

yep something is wrong for you
