exanimis
I ran across Google Sketchup the other day and was surprised at how easy it is to learn. The buildings that you make in sketchup can be imported to Oblivion through blender. Do any of you use Sketchup? Is it worth downloading?

Vagrant0
I ran across Google Sketchup the other day and was surprised at how easy it is to learn. Is it worth downloading?Yes, sketchup is fairly easy to use, and is great for very simple modeling. The problem is that you won't really do too many particularly detailed models with it, and you'd probably be able to do more, faster, just using primitaves in blender. The import/export may also not be as reliable as you would like.
Tchos
I've made a few basic things in Sketchup, and was trying to make a round bed for Oblivion using it, but without luck so far. But it has a very good interface, intuitive, easy to learn and understand.
LHammonds
If you happen to know Sketchup and are good with it, that might be a good option for you to use when creating static objects (buildings) for Oblivion. But you still need to import it into Blender to get the following: UV Maps, Collision, NIF Format. People who already know Blender or other 3D modeling tools might be better off sticking with them. From what I've seen of SketchUp though, it does and pretty nice things in a VERY fast manner that I don't think other 3D tools can do as fast. This is one of those things I would like to delve into and see how it would work and then create a tutorial on it but I simply have not had time to do this. If it works how I think it would, a tutorial for doing it would be nice. ;) LHammonds
Tchos
Ah yes, and for some video tutorials for how to use Sketchup, I found these useful:http://www.google.com/sketchup/training/vi...new_to_gsu.html
exanimis
That's a link to the same tutorials that I found. I've already made some houses with it but I'm still not sure I will use them. It's amazingly simple to learn.
SickleYield
That it is, which is why it's widely used for architectural rendering - which is its primary intended purpose. ;)
