OakRain
I have been updating NMM whenever it offers to update,I have about 35 mods installed at present and have not suffered any problems.Been through half a dozen NMM updates, the most recent seem to have been about adding compatibility for the new games that NMM will now deal with. You should be perfectly safe.Always a good idea to restart computer after any software update. I have safely upgraded too, but since Skyrim is so feeble with mods and has a tendency to crash if not loaded just right sometimes, I alway take screen shots of what my previous load over was. OakRain
I use BOSS and allow that to regularly update and Wrye Bash also,I haven't see NMM reorder any mods upon update though.
