Alright, so this is my first time trying to mod Fallout 3. It is not on Steam.

I read about Wanderers Edition and Mart's Mutant Mod, and decided those two are the ones I want.

I followed a guide step-by-step, used BOSS, have FOSE and FOIP and FOMM installed.

Here's my load order, exactly the way that BOSS made it.

 

 

I have the game set to run as Admin, and to run in compatibility mode for XP Service Pack 3.

I added those two lines to the Fallout.ini exactly as I was told to, as well.

 

 

Whenever I start the game through FOSE, exactly like I'm being told to do, everything goes fine...until the Brotherhood of Steel helmet shows up, when the Start Menu is supposed to show up. It does not show up.

It stays there, the helmet showing, music playing as normal, but there's no Start Menu.

I do not know what to do, and it is REALLY frustrating me. I would really appreciate help getting it running.

 

The only thing I can think of at this point is that, I've read in some places that it doesn't work quite right if I have Fallout 3 installed in Program Files(x86), and while I'm willing to uninstall and reinstall if I have to, I do not know how I'd go about applying mods and whatnot. I'll admit, 'm very new to this whole thing.

You should get the latest edition of FOMM for Fallout3. I suggest that you uninstall Fallout 3 and reinstall it outside of Program Files. Have you run the game without any additions?

I've got the latest version of FOMM, and yeah, it ran fine pre-mods.

After I uninstall and reinstall Fallout outside of Program Files, do I go about using FOMM the same way I do now?

Missing main menu is usually an orphaned record or a bad list. An orphaned record is one that is referenced in a plugin but no longer exists, or has been changed to a different formtype, in a master to that plugin. Most likely an out of date compatibility patch. A bad list would be a list containing an orphaned record or a formlist containing duplicate formids. Most likely a malformed mod.

 

Are you sure that you have the right FOIP patch for that version of FWE and that version of MMM?

Your screen shot shows that you are using FOMM 0.12.6. The current version of FOMM is 0.13.21. In answer to your other question, with Fallout 3 in another location, the is no change in how you would use FOMM.

How do I update it then? @_@

 

 

Try running the game without DarnUI enabled. Does it work?

 

Edit: Also, exactly what lines did you edit in fallout.ini, and what version of DarnUI did you download?

I just followed the DarnUI download here on Nexus Mods. I don't really know.

But no, it didn't work without it.

Man, Neverwinter Nights 2 runs perfect with the mods I have, and that was mostly guesswork.

I guess modding Fallout 3 is just more complicated, because I followed a 4-part video tutorial to the letter, and it still ain't working.

 

 

And no, I have had Fallout 3 running without mods. I just reinstalled Fallout 3 outside of Program Files. Sorry it's taking so long, I'm pretty busy these days.
