Returning to Fallout 3,

Okay, I'm not sure if I explained it weirdly (english is not my first language). I probably did.

Your English is excellent -- I had no idea it's not your first language!

Anyway, you say you have FWE, MMM and EVE. So you can get EVE/FWE patch, and MMM/FWE patch from FOIP. You don't need to have all the mods FOIP supports, just the two you're downloading a patch for. If that makes any sence.

I honestly suggest avoiding FOIP all together, if you install patches for mods you have (ones I mentioned above) you might have crashes, EVE/FWE patch needs FWE v6.01 and MMM/FWE patch requires FWE v6.03, two different versions and I don't know how will the game react to that. It might be nothing and it might screw everything up.

By the way FOOK and FWE generally don't like each other. I personally don't like FOOK but everyone has his own taste.

This is *much* appreciated! If you didn't inform me, I might've installed FOOK. I prefer a stable FWE so I'ff stay away from FOOK.

FOIP sounds too complicated. I generally want to use the latest release of any mod and one patch needing v6.01 and needing v6.03 just sounds really unstable. Again, thanks very much

Your game crashes when entering/changing cells, it's a common crash issue, in most cases caused by incorrect load order or a mod conflict. Could you post your load order? Just open FOMM, click Load Order, select Copy to clipboard, paste it in your post and I'll take a look at it.

Yes, it's pretty big. And no, the game doesn't crash at all.

Wow now THAT's what I call a load order!! Phew! over 200!!

[Edit: I've tried the MasterUpdate function of FO3Edit but it gives an error message that reads, "Using Fallout3 Data Path: E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 3 goty\Data\

Using ini: C:\Users\Admin\Documents\My Games\Fallout3\Fallout.ini

Using settings file: C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Fallout3\Plugins.fo3viewsettings

Loading active plugin list: C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Fallout3\Plugins.txt

Fatal: Error loading plugin list: <EFOpenError: Cannot open file "C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Fallout3\Plugins.txt". The system cannot find the file specified> "

I do not use that account at all so it's curious why FO3MasterUpdate is looking for stuff in there.

Also, I took MA48A's advice and got rid of my "vanilla" EVE and got Paradox Ignition's EVE so I could use the Backened Patch for FWE+MMM+EVE. Game seems to stutter less but still have CTD when any save game is made

//End Edit ]

And thank you for the logic behind the need for the merged patch. Knowing why helps me stick to the correct procedure :)

For your compatibility patches, check Blackened : http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/18173

BlackRampage has been working hard to get these new patches uploaded while working on Fallout Remastered. He gives good support to both.

I saw that the FWE+MMM+EVE patch is "only for PI Mergers version of EVE."

I checked where I got EVE at http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/8340

and I didn't see any mention of "PI"...

I think the EVE I have is a different one than Blackened supports.

You are missing a lot of compatibility patches. As you should know, you need one for FWE, MMM, EVE, Iron sights and maybe others. I do not use mods for which I need a compatibility patche. You should check FOIP http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/4968 to see if they have anything for you. If not, I would get the Paradox Ignition version http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/16787 and then get the Blackened patches.

Oh geez, thanks for telling me. I did check FOIP out and its patches for FWE, MMM, and EVE are all for versions I don't have (I always get the newest version from a mod from the mod maker's site or nexus page).

I will look into Paradox igniton. It looks like it may be my only solution.

Tired of a CTD every time I try to quicksave, or when I enter a new cell

Once I get the PI version of EVE and its Mergers. .. will I be able to use an old save (just made level 13) or will I have to start a new game? I've noticed after I ran BOSS and made a new merged patch that when you load the game it gives a warning about 'some content no longer available"...

BlackRampage, thanks -- good to know I don't have to start from scratch every time

One oddball thing is that it often CTD when I save or when autosave happens...

Edit follows: how do you make a clean save? For some reason whenever I get close to Fort Independence, CTD every time.

Edit:

To all: If I understood the Remastered ReadMe's correctly, install mods, ensure properly sorted, make merged patch, then install Remastered CPs, below the merged patch... if that is not correct, please tell me.

I'll owe you a beer!

  • 3 weeks later...

My biggest source of enjoyment in the TES games are the Realism mods, mods that add sleep, hunger, thirst dependencies, things that make your character more alive and not just an immortal. (Because the spartans will put them to the test!)

I was mucking about the Nexus and found a few 'small' mods that add ambience and realism. They compliment the other realism mods like FWE and weather nicely.

Sometimes it's the little details that make the big differences.

More and better ambient sounds to the wasteland.

Enhanced night sky that is taken from real-life starfield photography.

Locked Nuka-Cola machines. It just makes sense.
