jack1337
hi guys i searched a bit regarding this topic but i haven't found anything usefull yet i already tried .ini changes like iActorShadowCountExt=0 iActorShadowExtMax=0 but i am still not able to turn off actor or npc shadows in exterior areas (if you wonder why i want that, i'd like a fps boost, without loosing the shadows of buildings and tress and so on) looking forward to your answers greets jack
IsharaMeradin
try playing with fShadowBiasScale=What I know about it is that adjusting it upwards removes the outdoor shadow striping and adjusts any outdoor on character shadows cast by the actor. The drawback with increasing it upwards is that the higher the value the greater the distance between shadow and grounded portion of the actor. And it may also have an effect on other shadow types. It would certainly have to if it can remove the outdoor shadow striping.
Georgiegril
Shadows are rendered by the cpu. If you are limited by your graphics card, changing the shadows will not have much effect. There is a good discussion of shadows in the Geforce Tweak Guide. This Site (hardocp) has graphs showing the performance effects of various shadow tweaks. If you are looking for ways to increase you fps, you may find RookieNoob's tweak guide useful, as it discusses quality/performance effects of various tweaks on both low and high end computers. Hope something there helps!
