No.

I don't think it is worth it. But that's just me. There is a mod that is highly rated that lets you build a house. There are tons and tons of house mods you can download for free right here on the nexus.

I believe that saying '5 is nothing' isn't very frugal. Nothing ever seems like a lot when you put it by itself. But couponers know that a little bit can save you tons over a long period of time.

Saving your money whenever possible is wise no matter what your financial situation is. (Unless you are bathing in it) I can get everything HF offers for free. I see no reason to need this.

As a PS3 guy, i have not yet played hearth fire, but screenshots i have seen look AWESOME.....BUT i really dont want to have to pay money for it. Considering that Bethesda has already let down all of it's Skyrim PS3 fans with Dawnguard, i think they should be giving it away as an apology. This will probably never happen though, so if your dead-set on not paying money, just save up your gold and buy a cool house like Hjerm, which has plenty of crap in it. ( even your own personal secret murder room)! Edited by TheElfMonk

The entitlement is pretty thick here. What do they need to apologize for? Because the other platform's got Dawnguard and you didn't? At what point did you decide they owed you DLC's because the other platforms got them?

Not sure atm, just got it going to try it out later. sounds cool, may have some bugs or what not doesn't stop me from enjoying it. $5 dlc ehh what the heck, really nothing compared to what others spend.

In the end it really depends on taste, you know some will love and some will be hate I will most likely love it as I have with all the other Beth's. DLC's.

I fully intend to buy it eventually, once some mods for it appear that allow you to build things where you choose. The big reason I don't care to use it as-is is because of that library-kitchen thing, Those are the ONLY two rooms I'd want to build, and of course they're mutually exclusive. I don't know what Beth was thinking there. The people who'd want a library in their home are the people who love the books; i.e. roleplayers and those who care about the lore of the worlds. You know, the SAME people who'd be interested in cooking and baking even though those are totally unnecessary and only exist to provide some roleplaying fun.

I wish either the library or the kitchen had overridden the forge, or the enchanter's tower, or pretty much any of the other things that I don't give a ... about because they're available two dozen other places in the game. Which book-storage space and an oven are not. Why on earth would they choose to make the ONLY two things that you cannot get anywhere else in the game, be mutually exclusive?

That's pretty much the only thing I've had a problem with in Hearthfire. It doesn't make much sense from an RP standpoint not to allow both a library and a kitchen to exist at the same time. A lovely modder has fixed that issue for two of the houses, filling in that useless back room: Shezries Hearthfire Heljarchen Kitchen and Shezries Hearthfire Lakeview Kitchen - so next play through...

Like my topic title says, there are similar topics to this one but not exactly what I was looking for. My question is fairly simple though. Is the new dlc worth buying? Now, I'm NOT looking to make this an argument of epic proportions like what happened in certain other topics, however I am looking for something like a good point a versus bad point b and so on.

I want to know if purchasing this dlc will allow me to prevent possible (new) mod conflicts when they are based on HF content. On the reverse, I've heard of conflicts with HF that clash with existing mods already.

I like playing skyrim on pc. I will not buy it on console because of the lack of modding options. I don't even want to play with the original look to sort through items and the like. What I also wish to know: is what this mod does, impossible to mimic with fan made mods, or is it very possible to practically make a clone of the dlc for free then instead?

It's not that I'm so cheap that I don't want to pay for the few euro's it would cost me. (4.99 €) Bur rather it is the question whether or not I could get something (identical but) arguable better for free. Again, not because I'm too cheap to pay the price but simply because I can get something identical for free. It's like going to buy apples on the market when you have a perfectly good apple tree in your garden. Why buy the apples when you can get them fresh from your tree? It wouldn't be smart to go and buy them when you got a lot of them lying in the grass...

Seeing as nobody else really answered the actual question

Yes, you can pretty much mimic all of the effects of hearth fire with available mods.

http://www.gamefront.com/mods-to-tide-you-over-until-hearthfire-hits-pc/ this lists all the mods you can use to do a modded version of hearthfire.

As for my personal opinion. It's exactly what it seems to be in the description for it.

Though, personally, it strikes me as the horse armor DLC of skyrim.

  • 2 months later...

I bought it 33% off, cause there willl be interesting mods based upon it and im abit of a sucker for the mechanic of building your own house and so i want the framework to be there.

Also why not for such small pocket money?

Usually im quite conservative about such things, but my name is not Dagobert either.

If they dont start splitting it all up now(as some other companies do), i think it will be alright.
