Hearthfire DLC...

Oh yea Winterhold. I think I wrote that off as the Arch-Mages quarters.

Anyways... 9 holds where you can become Thane seems like there should be a house for each title.

Just feels right since there was a player home in each city in Oblivion.

But it doesn't feel like a dlc. Seems like they just filled in the gaps. Probably planned it from the beginning to make money.

Hmmm....Hearthfire sounds like it has even less than I had originally thought it had.....There had been a flicker of interest when it was first announced as I had envisioned getting to build a house somewhere in the wilds of the Reach....then found out they were pre-planned plots of land only and lost complete interest at that point....Turns out there are even less plots to build upon....it sounds like a very restricted DLC.....leaves me with less than zero interest in Hearthfire. It basically adds three plots... One in Hjaalmarch, one in the Pale, and one in Falkreath. And it adds some new children, with new dialogue and the ability to adopt, plus one add-on for Breezehome.

This sounds small, but the houses might be loaded with content, I haven't built them yet.

You can't get much for $5 these days, so it is worth the price, but like I said, feels more like an update than a dlc.

I honestly wouldn't use it at all...it sounds like it's clashing with some mods anyway, I don't know if any I use are included and don't feel the need to find out....I don't play a married/family man Dovahkin and won't be....nor a house builder/settled type either and won't be....As far as I'm aware hasn't the add on for Breezehome caused further havoc with the Alchemy Table?...I have already lost the Table with the pre-Hearthfire upgrade Bethesda put in, which peeved me, since I play an Alchemist and that's the home he buys....(it cheap and fast....good for storage).....would prefer to just have my Table back really.

The $5 is irrelevant....it's the content not the cost (or lack there of) on which I am basing my rejection of Hearthfire.....Will just wait to see what Beth comes up with next....I like the DG addition....

I dot think we need more houses, the 5 in the base game was already too many.

Also, given how Hearthfire added so much into actually making a house, takign it far beyond even Morrowind's stronghold building, It feels more the just filling gaps. A filling gap DLC would be you get 3 premade houses and you just buy the furniture packages like all the other houses.

It also has some pretty cool features like

-You can give kids wooden practice swords, and if you have made the practice dummy in the cellar part of your house they go down there and train with it.

-You can give all female adopted children dolls, and they play with their dolls, and you can actually see them take it out and play with them.

-Kids also gain several new animations of them playing, and laying on their stomach with their feet in the air.

-Your kids can also find animals and ask you if they can keep it as a pet, the known pets are foxes, frostbite spiders, mudcrabs, rabbits, and skeevers

-Grain mills now let you make flour using wheat.

-You can buy a cow for your house and if you have the kitchen upgrade you get a regular supply of milk put in one of the cabinets.

-The Morthal house has a fish hatchery where you can put all fish types from the game, including slaughter fish, in there and then a day or so later it spawn a regular supply of fish for you to catch.

-All preexisting houses get upgrades that alter either the alchemy room, or the enchanting room, into a kids room.

I have two small un-invasive mods I use....'Be a Milk Drinker' (provides milk, water and a variety of Juices) ....and 'Realistic Wildlife Loot' (makes for a well fed Dovahkin... ...)....they provide for a perfect menu addition ....And he has a Fox companion already (BFF Animal Companions)....Without feeling the pressure to adopt some kid....I'm a soft touch and have no wish to make that available in my game at all.

Hearthfire sounds like it can give those who are interested something....but it is certainly a very narrow market DLC and people are either going to really want a play house and family addition or have zero interest in the whole concept....this DLC is pretty well a black or white one.

I welcome the DLC, Bethesda has had the same shitty house mechanics since morrowind, and an attempt to making having a house better is a good thing.

I hope to see at least one Hearthfire like house in Elder scrolls 6.
