Cheyron
My goal is to do that batch process that updates the armors in my game for the player's body that I created using the race menu. When I run Bodyslide.exe I try to find the jslot file that race menu created but this is not a valid file for race menu. is there a tutorial somewhere I can refer that addresses this. Do I need to actually create the body in bodyslide? If I hit that batch button will it go through the all the armors i have installed and create sliders for their shape to match my body? Im a noob and any help is appreciated. I hope this forum isn't dead.

WakahisaSensei
So just found this. Admittedly I don't know much about the whole "jslot" thing. But I've been gradually getting better with bodyslide. And it seems I'm the only one willing to help. So I'll give my advice for what it's worth. Build the body in bodyslide. It's fairly easy. It even lets you look at a rough idea of what the body will look like with your changes. If you use CBBE etc, don't use the CBBE sliders in game once you've set the body in bodsylide. You can use all the other sliders, just not the CBBE ones. In my experience it will CTD, but it doesn't matter. Bodyslide does better and can save your designed body to be the default when creating a new character. You can then use other sliders to adjust. Batch build will, in general, fit all compatible outfits to the body you designed. Just be careful to deselect the other body options when using it (because it will also try to batch build all variations of the bodytype your using.) For example, if you use the CBBE HDT body, you don't need bodyslide trying to match the regular CBBE body to it. Outfits for other bodytypes will not match properly unless you have a patch for them (or learn to modify outfits yourself). And outfits without bodyslide files will not show up and will not be changed without some manual work. For the most part, the outfits changed in the batch build will fit perfectly, but some outfits don't always work. The succubus armor that comes with the succubus race, for example, gets a lot of clipping on boots. And because armors are so fine tuned and fit so snugly to the body, mods that change the characters pose "can" cause some minor clipping. But for the most part it works really well. Once you batch build to match your body, you shouldn't have to use sliders to match it to your body with rare exception. But that's my experience. The jslot file is the file that racemenu creates when you are in game and you execute showracemenu in the console and make all the changes to your body then save the preset. It is a JSON formatted file that saves all your race menu slider settings. It gets saved in the skse chargen folder. Yeah I ran a batch on one of the groups I guess is what they are called. It was one of the armors from IA. OK so I actually have to create my player's body in bodyslide.exe itself. I guess I will do that then. It was confusing that the dropdown that shows all your clothing also shows bodytypes, thanks for that tip. I think when I tried running the batch for cbbe hdt, I think I unchecked the bodies, or at least I hope I did. So are the files overwriting stuff? Like if I make a mistake, how would I restore everything back to default? Can I just delete files bodyslide creates?

Like if I make a mistake, how would I restore everything back to default? Can I just delete files bodyslide creates? Well as long as you don't save over the default body, just re-select the default body in the drop down menu. Or, alternatively, you could keep a notepad a right down the default values and then a separate notepad to record your preferred values when you finally find a set you're comfortable with. There's supposed to be a way to save custom bodies you make separately but it never worked for me so I saved over the default. Bodyslide has this annoying tendency to reset the body sometimes and I got sick of redoing the values, and decided to do away with the default by saving over it. Unlike creating a separate custom file, it finally stuck. The files might be overwriting depending on your setup. Typically whenever you make a change to the bodyslide setup, you should run the batch for all clothing files. If you install a new armor without changing your body, you only need to run it for that set of armor, deselect everything else. Some armors have multiple options that may conflict. The batch build will alert you and ask you to check with specific version you want. I.E. if an armor has HDT options and vanilla. I usually go with HDT as a preference. If you use the mod Apachii Divine Elegance you'll see a TON of these lol. Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple. OH. And if you use a race mod that has its own custom body, like the Succubus Race, bodyslide changes WILL NOT effect it at all. meaning the armors might be mismatched when worn on the succubus. It took me forever to figure how to fix that, so I'm going to save you the trouble and tell you how I finally did. Just open the bodyslide folder, find the body you built, copy the meshes, and paste over in the custom races mesh folder. Replace files as required. (If the race has extra parts, like a different set of hands or something not covered by bodyslide you may get a slight seam, but it's livable trust me.) (If the race has extra parts, like a different set of hands or something not covered by bodyslide you may get a slight seam, but it's livable trust me.) thanks for all this info, gonna try to mess with it in a little to see if i can get it working... another thing is i wanted to add the bodyslide sliders to armors that i guess are not bodyslide compatible. I am in the very beginning of my game so I grabbed the storm cloak cuirass off ralof's buddy. I specifically wanted to make that armor work with bodyslide too... it appears that gets set up in outfit studio. I read some tutorials for selecting a body and the armor, then i delete the shape in the armor that is the default body, then i try to get the cbbe body inside of it and get rid of clipping with the brush. Like do I need to go through every armor in my game in outfit studio. I saw a mod called weight morphs (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/70243/?) i was thinking about using and it appears i would have to setup all the armors in my game to even be able to morph. Have you done that process? If yes, any tips would be appreciated or if you can tell me if im missing something. I actually need to look up what to do once i fix the clipping. I was following an old tutorial that had images but all the images are no longer hosted on the image site the person used so it was kinda hard to follow Edited September 26, 2019 by Cheyron
WakahisaSensei
I haven't done that. I mostly just use mods that already have bodyslide files. Some mods that don't I manually edit in outfit studio. In regards to vanilla clothes, they usually fit the body as they normally did without any graphical issues even with a changed body. However, I use a replacer mod for all the vanilla armors to give them a different look. And the replacer had bodyslide files. So either way, vanilla clothes aren't a concern. I'm currently trying to learn how to do conversions, like turning a UNP armor to CBBE. Maybe adding bodyslide files some day. But i'm only at the beginner stage. Good luck. Hope what I said helps.
