An ambitious goal, going an entire game without killing anyone.

Actually you can become thane of most holds without killing giants. Dawnstar does have a giant-slaying quest, and also requires to fight your way through the Vaermina quest, one of Daedric quests that requires you to kill a lot of people.

Yes, that's wHat I meant, Dawnstar has the giant-killing quest. The only ones that don't require killing someone are Whiterun, the Reach, and Winterhold, assuming you do them with the original jarl. (Anything with the other jarl requires civil war quests, which should be an automatic 'no'. :P )

Whiterun requires you to kill the draugr at Bleak Falls Barrow - even if you could evade everything else there you have to kill him to get the Dragonstone.

The Reach requires you to kill a forsworn leader - because thats one of the prerequisite radiant tasks to befriend Jarl Igmund.

However a true pacifist doesn't just forswear killing, but violence in all forms. Knocking someone out is still something a pacifist wouldn't do, along with barroom brawls and the like.

That's true enough, but while he said he "My character will be a strict pacifist", he did describe taking some violent actions which indicates a little bit of wiggle room. It actually makes me think of one of my favorite quotes (from Firefly):

Zoë: Preacher, don't the Bible have some pretty specific things to say about killin'?

Book: Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

Strictly by the definition of violence though, the character couldn't pose the threat of any sort of physical force. If magic or the potential actions of those who are followers of the PC are considered to be able to fulfill that criteria, then the character would probably just be limited to working as an alchemist, miner, and lumberjack, maybe doing the occasional fetch quest. Undead, having actual mortal souls (albeit some of them twisted) could be considered off limits (in game, some can actually thank you for killing them and ending their misery). Most Thieves' Guild radiant quests, which can potentially be done without physically hurting anyone, couldn't be pursued in good faith because to gain access to them you have to threaten people for Brynjolf. The character would essentially be Nordrick, but with only slightly more options.

Maybe get hold of the Wabbajack as soon as you can....And there is also the mod 'Tactless Toxins'....combine it with the 'Poisoners Bow' and only use the two Toxins/Potions....Tonic of Polymorph and Knock Out Poison....these do no damage to your opponent and if you use the Poisoners Bow for delivery of the Poison, the Bow does no damage at all....

I'm pretty sure being transformed into something else is something that a true pacifist would see a mentally scarring for the other person lol. A true pacifist in skyrim wouldn't be an adventurer lol. He'd be working in the temple of Mara.

I think it probably is impossible to avoid killing altogether, as the game stands. I think this would be a really nice mod, actually, to fix the game so you actually can be merciful and force others into submission instead of just killing them, and being able to use speech skills to persuade or intimidate in more situations. And maybe poisons/spells that cause enemies to run, freeze, etc. and then not be hostile to you afterwards. Maybe amnesia poison.

Not sure how "pacifist" all this would be, but it would be a nice change, a new set of strategies to make the game interesting!

Heros: "huh?", "hä?", "what?"

Alduin: Kruzawhat?

Dragonborn: I shall converse with him and solve this situation diplomatically

Heros: "äääh!" "!" "what?"

Alduin: Crösus?

Dragonborn: hear me now mighty Dragon, have you not killed enough?, all this misery and pain you have brought to the world, all the fear and hate is that how you wanna live the couple of millennia left in your life? Dont you want to love and be loved?

Alduin: Krazies?

Dragonborn: renounce your Human flesh eating ways and come to the rightfull path of peace, justice and harmony. Allow us to welcome you as one of our own and revel in our warm embrace.

Alduin: Gaysies?

Dragonborn: O mighty Worldeater I believe there is a good Alduin inside that hard Shell, let him out, let us all celebrate and be brothers and sisters and live in World full of Flowers and peacefull laughter.

-----------------First Ending-------------------------------

Heros: we were just going to ask the same of you!

-----------------Alternative Ending----------------------

Felldir: I dont know but the pain I am feeling in my ears thats for real!

Alduin: Can I eat him?

Felldir: By all means!

Gormlaith: Dont forget to chew!

I think M'aiq said it best:

"Why do soldiers bother with target practice? One learns best by hitting real people."

Edit: Kudos to the poster after me, couldn't have said it better!
