DarkDragonFox
I know Dark Souls hasn't been out for PC for long, but I was curious if anyone has been interested to add Demon's Souls mods to the game? Armor and weapons I assume would be easiest to make, but mods I would love to see would be maybe bringing the old HUD system back, or even getting to play through the land of Boletaria again in Dark Souls. So what are all of your thoughts?
Rennn
That degree of modding is almost certainly impossible. The HUD could be possible, but as for adding landscapes... not so much. Even working with Dark Souls' meshes is out of reach atm.
Kaffeebohnson
I also suggested Demon's Souls themed mods a while ago. But the ingame HUD is one thing Dark Souls improved in my opinion.I think it's mostly the lighting, Dark Souls seems more vivid and colorful than its bleak predecessor.Perhaps I'll try that "Black Souls" Mod sometime... http://darksouls.nexusmods.com/mods/

However I have yet to play the PC version as I only have the PS3 version (sadly because I've seen some mods I would love to have such as the Red Wanderer's Armor, I personally don't care for how bland the default color for the Wanderer's Armor is.) I would say although the Dark Souls HUD is okay in its own right, I still liked the Demon's Souls HUD and the use of mana instead of limited spell scrolls. Just another personal preference. There are pros/cons to both games in my opinion, some things I like some things I don't. But I can say for certain I do like the whole "Figure it out yourself" outlook that Demon's Souls had and it is even more so present in Dark Souls. Too many games hold your hand nowadays and both games dared to not do so. Even Skyrim, as much as I love it, holds your hand a bit too much (Gold is far easier to obtain as well as enchanted weapons and armor compared to Oblivion). Well, even if impossible odds are stacked against it, I would still love to see it :) Considering there is so much talk about seeing Cyrodill playable in Skyrim that I wouldn't see why such a thing as being able to replay through Boletaria would be out of reach if given the time and care to try and make it happen. I certainly couldn't see just one person being behind all of it as I am sure it would take several people, but unfortunately Dark Souls as much as I love it isn't as popular as the Elder Scroll Series, so the amount of support to see something like that happen would be minimal at best I would say. Weapons and Armor on the other hand from Demon's Souls such as the Large Sword of Searching, Morion Blade, Dark Silver Armor, Gloom Armor, ect. would be pretty cool to see and at least somewhat more plausible to actually happening. Also wouldn't mind a few of the hair styles from Demon's Souls as Dark Souls was kind of limited in my opinion. As I hope to be a game designer myself one of these days, I eventually hope to learn how to texture and rip models and re-program them to work in a different setting so I can see some of those mods become a reality. You would probably need access to Dark Soul's engine and development kit. The engine is plausible, as from the rumors I hear it's a terrible engine and Sony pretty much gifts it to whatever company asks. The other source code and such, however, is probably out of reach unless you happen to get extraordinarily lucky. Idk, maybe a very skilled programmer would be able to edit stuff without the tools, but I'm doubtful. I admittedly don't know how it all works, so take this with a grain of salt. Don't get me wrong, I love Demon's Souls and I'd love a mod to port some Demon's Souls stuff to Dark Souls, but I just don't think it's going to happen given the hardships involved.
