Deepblue321
Basically, if I have any mods installed that aren't DLC, Oblivion crashes when I quit the game. This is normally not so bad since the game is saved anyway. But everytime I insert the DVD, the game does an auto hardware check, can't find anything and auto sets my graphics quality to medium (I can run everything on maximum).Although it can find my graphics card just fine. Since Oblivion crashes when I quit the game (while I have mods installed otherwise it quits fine), graphics settings I've moved back to maximum get set back to medium because the crashing on quit fails to save the graphics settings. Even setting all the graphics before installing mods and the quitting doesn't work despite the game exiting properly because then when I play the game again some other time, the startup menu comes up and resets my settings again like I've said. The only way around this so far is to play on medium or play without mods.I really don't want to have to do either.
LFact
'Crashing on exit' is quite common problem, especially when you installed several mods. And failing on auto hardware check is normal since your machine(especially graphic card) is newer than the game. If you have trouble on saving configuration, you can do this: - Use launcher to setup graphic option.- Run the game. Configure the rest. - Load any save or start new game.- Once entered the game, open console by pressing '~'(the key next to '1', or below 'Esc'. If it does not work even if console is allowed in Oblivion.ini, you need other mean to open it....). Type 'saveini' to save Oblivion.ini(Not 'save ini', for 'save <filename>' means you're gonna make a new save file). Also check OBSE plugin 'Fast Exit'. Deepblue321
Thanks, I'll try that. Would this mean that the auto detect function won't overwrite the .ini? Edit: Tried it. Didn't work.I changed all the settings and quit. Then started the game using NMM and started a new game. After skipping through the race selection I entered in "saveini" in the console. It paused for a bit before the console went to the next line with no confirmation message.Quit again. Then started up the game by removing the DVD and putting it back in so the auto startup happens and so does the auto detect.Started game and graphics settings are reverted to medium again. Is there a way to stop the auto startup happening? This would be the best solution if so.Edit2: S'ok, figured out the autoplay thing. Set it so it opens the folder instead. Edit3: Nexus Mod Manager appears to fix the crashing upon exit too. Funny how solutions only come to you once you've made a thread asking about it. Edited October 13, 2012 by Deepblue321
