e1grey
When equipping a weapon either via hot key, or through pip-boy menu, the game freezes. It's the first time I encountered this issue, and it started happening recently - two or three days ago, mid-playthrough. The mods I've installed in the past week were all re-texture mods, but it happens even with the weapons unaffected by those mods. The issue is inconsistent. Sometimes it happens in first person, other times it may happen in 3rd person, then other times it doesn't happen even if I cycle through my weapons on purpose. Has anybody had this issue? G4M3W1NN3R
i have had this issue, it was caused by an older version of Bullet Counted Reloads: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/41178 however since downloading the newer version of that (1.02 was the version that fixed it for me), it fixed the issue completely however, if said mod is not relevant then i would suspect either animation mods (specifically to do with guns, equipping, un-equipping, reloading etc etc) Mod Conflict (again any mod that would affect weapons in anyway, although their is some bizarre mod conflicts with guns, that you would never think to be a conflict.) or insufficient memory (either caused by high res textures, or simply being in very memory intensive locations, such as downtown boston, causing Vram to run out, which results in problems). and the most ovbious would be having an actual low Vram Capacity on your GPU, as in having less available Total Vram, that your modding setup would require if the Vram Runs out, the game will then use the much slower System Ram, if that also runs out, the game will Crash, and quite possibly your Entire System as well. however for this too happen (For High End Systems that have a lot of Vram and System Ram), would require a very extreme modding setup, as in every single thing being at maximum detail, such as 4K + Textures for absolutely everything, or simply Higher Resolution Monitors, which will use memory very quickly and much more of it. being inconsistent would more likely be a memory issue, as animation mods would be 100% repeatable, where as with memory based issues, it will be inconstant as it will be determined on resource intensive locations. example, santucary will be low memory usage, as opposed to downtown boston, where the memory usage will increase by a lot. Running High Res textures (2k and Especially 4K and Beyond will increase Memory usage by a lot and at a much faster rate as you go from areas with loads of textures to other areas with even more textures, and if said textures are uncompressed, this will dramatically increase Memory Usage. I have the latest version of Bullet Counted Reload System (1.03) installed, and the patches for Right-Handed Lever Action Rifle and Sjogren Inertia. The game freezes even with vanilla weapons (with no vanilla HD or replacer vanilla textures), and in the most FPS-friendly locations (like Sanctuary, Railroad HQ, etc.). I'll uninstall BCR system and see how the game runs without it. I don't use those weapons much anyway. I downloaded it because it's one of those mods that makes the game make a little more sense.Thank you. Edited October 16, 2019 by e1grey
G4M3W1NN3R
i should re-iterate, that version 1.0 of that mod was making every weapon freeze the game for me upon equipping them, even vanilla weapons, such as the assault rifle and combat shotgun. 1.02 completely solved the issue for me. as such i recommend trying 1.02, if that is indeed the cause, as 1.03 might of brought the issue back. I've played without the BCR mod for several hours on different saves and it didn't freeze once, while it used to freeze within the first few minutes of playing. Thanks for your help.
