kiro3227
I want to add the mod "Unique NPC's - Creatures and Monsters of the Commonwealth" to my game(https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/24357?tab=description) because I wanna have as many types of enemies as I want but before I can do that the size of that mod worries me (3.5gb main but with optional included it will be ~7GB only out of this mod.I don't know if its normal and my if my game will handle(i5 9600k,Nvidia 1060 6gb gtx,16GB RAM) to have +15GB only out of mods(all of my mods together are 8.13GB).I've looked up online and haven't found anything related to this so I'm making this post myself because I want some advice from professional people who are aware of having an such large modlist. Here's my mod list:Fallout4.esmDLCRobot.esmDLCworkshop01.esmDLCCoast.esmDLCworkshop02.esmDLCworkshop03.esmDLCNukaWorld.esmccbgsfo4009-piporan.eslccbgsfo4028-powerarmorskinorange.eslccgrcfo4002-pipgreenvim.eslArmorKeywords.esmHUDFramework.esmHomemaker.esmDamage Threshold.esmunofficial fallout 4 patch.espFaceLight.eslFLRI_HeadGear_bytooun.eslHorrorghouls2.0.eslthe eyes of beauty.espmodgirlyanimation.espsettlementlimitslashed.espmodern firearms.espimproved map with visible roads.espweightless junk.esp3dscopes.esppower armor quick enter and exit.espdd-enhanced blood basic.espReverb and Ambiance Overhaul.espCraftableAmmo.espCraftableAmmo_plus.espLegendaryModification.espLegendaryModification2LM.espLegendaryModificationMisc.espLegendaryModificationCSA.espLegendaryModification - bbiller
First up, check your mod count. ESL's do not count. If below 254, all is good, megabyte or gigabyte size should not be a factor. If over 254, conversion of and combining mods is in order. I may release some things on that front later on, but I have to have the time for it (working on my mod pile first). There are guides to help with this, though standalone mods are good candidates. Second check on Scrap Everything, looks like you have more there than you need. If you have all the DLC, Scrap Everything and that Ultimate Update should do and those go as far down as possible. I do have Spring Cleaning added in mine as well. My count is close to 254, but once I get things changed that will free quite a few slots (over 26 with my pile) and that's with about 2/3 of the list looked at, at present. That is just on the conversion front, too.
kiro3227
Thank you for your answer! I know I got way too many Scrap Everything eps's and now with what you said I've removed those pointless esp's files and I'm very happy to hear that GB's size doesn't matter at all when it comes to mods.I hope though I won't reach over 254 but considering the fact that daily I add 1-3 mods to my game I expect till next month to run some tutorials on how to convert :)))Thank you again for taking your time in answering my question :D !It was worth the wait! StormWolf01
LOL you sound as much as a mod addict as I am. I'm not even gonna take a guess at how many GB's of mods I have stashed away on my external drive. (I'm an internet horder?) Anyway just chiming in with the complementary second opinion that the actual size (megabyte/gigabyte) of the mod doesn't really matter, UNLESS- 1) You have a reeeeeally slow hard drive *cough cough* sony playstation *cough cough* 2) Are starting to get low on storage space on your hard drive. But yeah, I do also agree, you need to do some cleaning on your mods. Another good way to reduce the load order, is to merge your "patched" mods. For example, I use a Bethesda mod called "Cheat Bunker". The author never released an all in one for it, but rather patched it for EACH DLC. Meaning, I have FOUR esp files for that mod. After I get around to adding all the new records from the patches to the original, I'll have only one. Therefore I can delete the originals. G4M3W1NN3R
i run both Unique NPC mods, they do cause small stuttering as the new npcs spawn, but it is usually a minor, and only last a few seconds. (however i have a high end machine, and my game is installed on my ultra fast SSD, so the impact it could have on your machine will greatly vary if your machine does not match mine) my entire mod setup consists of 150+ GB worth of data (yea almost maxed out my SSD just with Fallout 4+ Mods and windows being the only things on it xD). that includes loads of 2K + 4K Texture overhauls, an insane amount of armor, clothing and weapons mods (because i need more then i could ever use) xD with that said, what are your system specs. as mentioned above the size of the mod does not matter, what does matter however is what the mod contains, if its big because it contains a lot of 2k or 4k textures (which Both Unique NPC mods contain, as the new textures are a compliation of other mods, and said other mods offer high resolutions for these textures), this will be a problem for Vram. also i strongly recommend completely getting rid of Scrap Everything and replacing it with Place Everywhere Scrap Everything will break Precombines, which in turn will completey destroy your performance and stability, and also causes the issue for scrapped content to re-appear (Visual Bugs). Place everywhere can do what scrap everything does plus so much more, and it is completely safe to use. for me, place everywhere is an absolute must have mod for any type of workshop based tasks. (settlement building, home making etc etc) i would personally rate Place Everywhere an absolute must have mod, and it is a completely free mod to use, as it is completely an F4SE Plugin, meaning it does not count towards any mod limit. Place Everywhere: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9424 Note: Place Everywhere Requires F4SE. it has an option for extra objects, which will allow you to scrap almost everything, it will not allow you to scrap anything that will break precombines, which is very good to have that restriction, as Precombines, is the only performance optimization we have.
