Hey I love Raven42's daedric corset but i have a burning hate for Pauldrons!

Can someone please remove them for me since I have no clue how to do so myself?

I'd settle for information on how to do it myself aswell.

Just want it for personal use, No intentions of making it available to all.

Two possibilities:

One -- open the nif up in NifSkope and see if the armor piece with the pauldrons is its own mesh. If it is it's own mesh you could just delete that node (ctrl + delete). be sure to do the same with both _0 & _1 nifs

Two -- If the pauldrons are part of a larger mesh then you make sure that it has the NiAlphaProperty (a tutorial on that) and then open the texture file in an image editor that can support DDS files (gimp & dds plugin) then locate the parts associated with the pauldrons and erase it down to transparency.. be sure all nif work is done on both the _0 & _1 nifs

hope that helps

Thanks for the info, I'll give it a try. Ok so I deleted the pauldrons using nifskope, but now whenever i go to equip it i get a CTD. Did i do something wrong?

I took a look at the nif files for the mod in question. the pauldrons are not a separate mesh, meaning what you probably deleted was the skeleton bone nodes. uninstall and reinstall the mod to correct that. The mesh node contains the NiAlphaProperty already so you can probably play with the texture file to achieve something you want. However that just means that the mesh doesn't have visible texture, its actually still there and may still cause other visual oddities....

So I am most likely better off changing the textures to make them invidible then. Is it possible to use photoshop cs2 to do this?

As long as the texture is a file that PS CS2 can read (JPEG, TIF, etc.) it should be fine, if it is a PSD file then you will have issues if it was created in a newer version of PS.

Well I quit. I knew modding was hard but this is just insane. To all those who mod armor and create it you just jumped 20 levels in my respect meter. I don't see how anyone could or would classify this as fun.

The problem is, if you just edit the texture's alpha channel to make parts invisible:

The polygons below are normally not visible so they are not optimized for look...not weighted properly so they've got clipping errors, don't move correctly with your skin (especially when you change weight). So you have to weighten the whole thing and reimport it, not worth the effort if you ask me.

Might work if you only play 3rd person from behind or for average gameplay but not if you want to use it to pose.

greetings
