monsieuroberts
Hello Nexus Forum peeps. Now I'm not very clear with the protocol here, I spend most of my time on MMO-Champion. If I'm violating any forum rules or anything, don't hesitate to get upside my head about it. I've finally acquired a card that has enabled me to expand the potential games that I can run, an Asus HD 7850. I've been dabbling here and there and at one point I just grabbed the mod manager and downloaded close to 200 mods. Needless to say, there were many CTDs, too many to get past character creation. Here's the list of mods I downloaded. There was a lot of cool stuff and things that I imagine would be amazing, but of course I never got the chance to play with any of them. I'm wondering if there's something like a "best-of" pack, or some awesome collab between mod creators. If not, I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of a compilation of some awesome mods that actually work together. Also, how do I know what kind of load order to use? I read things on specific mods like "put this below that, and above this if it's installed, otherwise forget about it", but with so many mods...how am I supposed to know what to do and what conflicts? I get that this is a pretty tall order, and to be honest, I'm not expecting any useful replies...but might as well try, right? If you have any info that could help me out, or if you need some more context, just post a reply! Thanks.
IsharaMeradin
S.T.E.P. has some good information and some good instructions on how to use some of the third party tools which will help with the load order etc. You could even start off with their selection of mods if you want as they tend to only pick those that work together and 'fit' in the world of Skyrim as they see it. As you get experienced tho you may opt to not follow their mod suggestions but utilize their guides Also G.E.M.S is another project and collection of mods which may be of interest. In no way are you required to use everything they mention, in fact your system may not even be able to handle all of it. just cause the game executable can support up to 255 plugins doesn't mean that your computer can. So be forewarned that you will need to add mods in slowly and test out your game to see if anything is going haywire.
droenn
I too am trying to look for a "Best Of" list of mods that stick to the lore and feel of Skyrim, if anybody has one. As far as load order goes, I live and die by BOSS (Better Oblivion Sorting Software). I know it says Oblivion in there, but it also works for Skyrim. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/
