dreadylein Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Well, atm we are stuck with some plaintext editing So what Do we know about the upk Files and how the engine is handling them? Decompressed upks wont load, the engine detects an uncomressed upk, but sanity checks failsDisabling the sanity checks didnt helped, the engine calculates a wrong size The question atm is, whyAre there flags in the upk left after decompressing ?Does the decompresser dont properly delete the chunk Infos used for decompressing? One good thing, it Seems they didnt messed to much with the bytecode Interpreter, in theory we should be able to use udk to build the logic and just mess around with the pointers for getting working code for injections
Community Manager Dark0ne Posted October 17, 2012 Community Manager Posted October 17, 2012 I really think this is the next step for modding XCOM. We need to not only get in to the upk files but also recook them after modifying them. I'd love to see a push on understanding this better.
Daemonjax Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I think the devs should leak some modding tools for us to play with.
dreadylein Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 Yay ! This would make thing a "bit" easier ;D
Caiman Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 They probably will... but I guess they got LOADS of bugs to kill first(Starship Trooper anyone?). :geek:
