Skinjack Posted October 25, 2019 Share Posted October 25, 2019 (edited) I'm trying to figure out which mods alter the Heartwood Mill area. I can't get close to it without CTD'ing. I recently tried converting Gifts of the Outsider LE (which has an old house by the mill on Lake Honrich) for my game and was convinced I was doing a poor job converting, but I crash even after its removal whenever I try to go into that area. I can see the abandoned house marker on the map, so I actually think my conversion has been working, its just something else affecting that area. I can't think of anything in my load order that would do it. Any clues? Is there a way to find out without having to do the arduous half-your-mods then half again and again and again until you find the issue... I have quite a few mods (400+), so that is really not very appealing to me right now. My wife has much better uses for my time. Or so she says... Is there anything else I can do like lowering the graphics quality temporarily that might get me into the area? EDIT: I guess Farm Animals & Co affect that area, I've just never had an issue elsewhere in Skyrim with it. Will try disabling that for now to see if it works. Any other guesses? EDIT: Disabled Farm Animals & Co. That's not it. Lowered graphics quality with BethINI. That's not it. Something is being a resource hog in that area. Skinjack Posted October 25, 2019 Author Share Posted October 25, 2019 (edited) Yeah, problem with any mod list I create is it's going to have a bunch of MERGE_ mods that I made with Zedit and I can't be sure that they won't be the cause of interfering either. Guess I need to build a list of which mods each merge contains first to see if they could be messing with that area. But thank you for the suggestion. I was wondering how to do that in Wrye Bash. I know enough about it to rebuild a patch and that's pretty much it. At least it will give me a proper list I can start identifying possible culprits with. Really wish I had seen this issue when it first started, but I have no idea of when it did. Its hard to check for issues in all of Skyrim/Solstheim before you start a game in earnest. I'll see what I can do about a list after I get the MERGE_ mods broken down. EDIT: Just went into Wrye Bash to try this out, but I don't get a "List Mods" in the pop-up window when I right click. Did they change this recently? I just installed the newest version.EDIT 2: Never mind. I found it. Need to right click in the right area next time. Still a work in progress. Some are personal mods (Grey Eyecandy - just weapons) that I made, others are LE conversions. Still others are MERGE_ mods that I will try to break down as I edit this list (those are capitalized starting with MERGE_) but this will get the ball rolling. And feel free to point out any other screw-ups I might have if there are any glaring errors. I think I've spent more time trying to fix the set-up that I have, moving over to Vortex, etc., than I have playing the game. Someday I actually hope to do that again... EDIT: I updated this list with the MERGE_ mods I'm currently using to get this play-thru tested so I can start a game in earnest. I included the mods underneath each MERGE_ they are included in. Yeah, I know. Cheat... bad. Don't even know why I have some of them... never made it that far in-game to use them. Also, the last two starting with sj_ are just personal mods I made from existing weapons packs by other authors. Was checking to see if I could get it right, plus I didn't really want the whole mod. To date, all of these merges SEEM to be working in game as intended, but I haven't gotten very far into it (only level 2) to test them all completely. And yeah, I noticed a couple are redundant. I never got around to fixing the merge yet. But this didn't take as long as I thought it would, since all the mods were listed in the .json file. Thank you Zedit. Have to try to figure that one out, because I have a lot of patches for it with other mods as well. EDIT: I tried a few of the other locations for this mod. I'm fine in Whistling Mine and Soljund's Sinkhole. CTD at Sarethi's Farm. CTD at Heartwood Mill. Maybe I'll try disabling it and my patches tomorrow. I have the Blacksmith Water Fix and Settlements Expanded Patch in a merge, so maybe I'll move that out of the merge first and try it that way. Tried to keep all the Blacksmith Water Fix patches in one place. Maybe I won't need to merge them if I have Wrye Bash straightened out to were it is not counting ESL/ESL flagged mods towards my limit anymore. Tomorrow. I'm done for the day, but please feel free to mention any other mistakes I might have that could be causing this.
