mikekearn
It's been talked about in other threads. Apparently in the US there is a law against killing children in video games. I had never heard of it, but several people have talked about it. So I'm gonna go with that as being why it's like that in the game. As to why it's like that in every game, and not just the US version, it's globalization. Just like Australia being against Morphine in the game gave rise to Med-X being used in every version, so to is invincible children a likely victim of globalization. vash1985
thats what im hearing but as well i am finding 0 leads on that legislature (ive been looking....hard) and intact when Bethesda was interviewed about not including child killing in Fo3 there was absolutely no mention of being forbidden by law to include child death, but rather as a moral decision on their part as the developers not to include such extremes. i do believe this law is "busted" as they say, but really i dont see the the problem here. sure i hear all your arguments about immersion and stuff, its a video game bla blah, but i seriously gotta wonder why NOT having the ability to kill children in a game is making you lose sleep and get all bent outa shape. its a game. who the hell cares
mikekearn
Well, like I said, I just heard there was a law, which is the only reason I can think of to actually stop it from happening. If there is no law against it, then I really wish they hadn't put it in there. I don't see what is so morally wrong about killing a smartass kid as opposed to killing a perfectly saintly person who has done nothing. You can do the latter all you want, but some kid that thinks he's king of the world and treats you like crap can't be hurt at all? I say that is immersion breaking. No there isn't, and anyone who was talking of one is an idiot. Video games are protected by the first amendment. In fact, if you want to get down to the nitty-gritty, I can have a video game about 7 year olds having sex with each other and 40 year old men, in visceral detail, and it's completely, 100% legal. Circuitous
3D kids aren't real kids and can't have a proven age. Just say they're 18 in some documentation and they've got no basis for punishment in any way. Video games are cool like that. And hey, I'm not saying you're a bad person if you want a mod that lets you kill kids. All I'm saying is I probably wouldn't download it unless Child Killer were brought back, and even then I probably wouldn't bother.

Why do you think I can commit any other crime in a video game? Because I'm not actually doing it to anyone real. Having digital child porn be legal is actually quite a victory for video games, because it means there's no precedent set for digital media to be controlled by the government. First amendment baby. 18 U.S.C. 2256 – “CHILD PORNOGRAPHY” DEFINED Child pornography is defined as any visual depiction, including any photograph, film, video, or computer or computer-generated image or picture, whether made or produced by electronic, mechanical, or other means, of sexually explicit conduct, where * the production of such visual depiction involves the use of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct; * such visual depiction is a digital image, computer image, or computer-generated image that is, or is indistinguishable from, that of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct; or * such visual depiction has been created, adapted, or modified to appear that an identifiable minor is engaging in sexually explicit conduct. try againhttp://archives.cnn.com/2002/LAW/04/16/sco...ual.child.porn/ Of course now everyone's going to think I'm a perv since I knew of this ruling, but whatever. There's no law against slaughtering children, even if it were a recreation of my old elementary school. The only reason they didn't include it is because Bethesda are a bunch of spineless dimwits who were afraid of some bad publicity because of media terrorism.
