Crashing In Concord

I've had an (almost) identitcal issue for a loooong time, and have put off a new playthrough as I couldn't enter Concord on a new character (but could on older saves).

Thanks to your post and subsequent testing, I'm almost certain it's a bug with Preston Garvey. Every time I get near him or spawn him in, my game crashes. For me, it doesn't freeze or stutter, just ctd.

Would love if anyone finds a solution to this.

I've sorted with LOOT, used Fo4Edit to clean, started a new play through, verified game cache, reinstalled the game, deleted the inis to have new ones be generated, disabled every mod I have... nothing. I still keep crashing upon entering. The game will stutter, freeze, then crash. It can't be my PC since I've run it just fine before.

I did move the Documents folder over to a different drive, but that can't be affecting it, can it? If I don't go into Concord, it doesn't crash, but I need to. Please help. I literally can't play the game how I wish if this problem persists. Thanks for reading.

The "Documents" folder contains the "My Games" folder, which in turn contains a lot of the folders for the games you've installed. Among them is the folder for Fallout 4 that has the ini files and your save-games folder. So, yes, changing the location of your "Documents" folder has an influence on how your game behaves. The game probably crashes every time there's an auto-save going on since the folder the autosave has to go to can no longer be found by the game because you've changed the location.

Well I have the same problem. No more ideas on how to get rid of this mistake with Preston Garvey. Apart from the advice from this thread, I've tried console commands. The game crashes when I create it next to me (player.PlaceAtMe 00019fd9 1 (command, its base id, stack amount).

P.S. Okay. I have two ideas. 1. Download the modification for textures (now I download a pack of textures for different objects in 2K (that is, there is not only Preston's texture). If the problem is in the texture, it may work. 2. If step one does not help, I will look at its textures, models , scripts (and so on). I don’t know how to do it. I don’t know where these files with textures and models are. If you know programs to view and modify, tell me about them. Thanks in advance.

So I recently just changed mother boards and I am now having this issue. I tried loading the game up with just Base game, DLCs including the hi res pack, and Slocums ccc. And I crash as I enter Concord. Would validate game files possibly fix the issue? Or is ditching the high res texture a better idea? Edited by rdaneri
