jerrypankid
So I have tried basically all the ways I found online for the full screen issue for fallout 4 such as: 1.Playing around both of the fallout4prefs.ini files for border less windowed setting. 2. Change the settings when opening the launcher 3. Reinstalling the game 4.Compatibility settings in the properties of right click 5. GTX Experience setting changing etc. All didn't work. And I have tried all the resolutions suggested by the game launcher which didn't change it at all. The game just appeared at the top left corner with the same size. No matter 800*450 or 1920*1080, 1440*960... Nothing can impact the windowed game
G4M3W1NN3R
Go Here: C:\Users\Your Computer Name\Documents\My Games\Fallout4 Right Click on Fallout4Prefs.ini and ensure that it is Not Set to Read-Only, if it is untick that box Open Fallout4Prefs.ini and find these settings (and set them accordingly as shown) bMaximizeWindow=0bBorderless=1bFull Screen=1iSize H=1080iSize W=1920 Then save it, and right click on Fallout4Prefs.ini and Tick the Read-Only Box Note: if all of the above does not work, then you have something else overriding these settings, such as Nvidia Control Panel. Right Click on Deskto - Nvida Control Panel - Change Resolution - then select the option that matches your Monitor Also whilst still in Nvidia Control Panel - Click on Adjust Desktop Size and Position, and for Scaling Select *Aspect Ratio* and tick the Box *Override Games and Programs*
jerrypankid
Thanks a lot for your help. And that is exactly the ini file playing around I did, however, I am going to have a look at the override first since I haven't looked into that before. Thanks sincerely

G4M3W1NN3R
issue might be connected what os are you using, and can you list your mods, so i can see if a mod maybe the cause. and are you playing the game on Survival Difficulty ?
StormWolf01
Here I am on a wild hare again, but I have to ask, is there a colored border around the game screen? As in, you have a malware detector/Antivirus that is sandboxing the game?I ask, because if you can't control it, and it's not getting write access, this leads me to believe that something has put it on lockdown. Comodo has tried to do that to me, with f4se, and bodyslide of all things! You may have to look up how to do it, but check your security settings to see if it's listed in there. If so, (again may have to look it up on how to do it) either set the controlled aspects as exceptions, or just turn off the AV when you start to play. Edit- as far as saving. I just thought of this..... are you in survival mode? Game saves are severely limited in that mode. Edit 2- Also go into your fallout4 installation folders, right click on all the .exe files. Click PROPERTIES. Then go up to the top and click the SECURITY tab. Make sure that everything has full access for your .exe files. Edit 3 - Is your installation folder in the Program Files or Program Files (86) Folder? If so, that could be your problem. Games do not like being installed there. Windows tends to a real control freak on programs that are installed in those two folders. Edited October 31, 2019 by StormWolf01
jerrypankid
I am using Win 10 with GTX 1050 ti, I haven't installed any mod yet so that can't be the issue. And not in survival mode because there isn't even a file call 'Saves' in my Document Thank you for your reply. issue might be connected what os are you using, and can you list your mods, so i can see if a mod maybe the cause. and are you playing the game on Survival Difficulty ? jerrypankid
I only have the windows defender thing running so it can't be av software issues. And the game had no colored border around, so that's fine. Not survival mode for sure. The access has always been full access so no problem. Installed game in my sector D so not Program Files problem. Thanks anyway for your considerations. Here I am on a wild hare again, but I have to ask, is there a colored border around the game screen? StormWolf01
Heya Jerry, sorry for not looking back in on this for so long. :(I'm afraid that I'm coming up with a blank, on what could be preventing you from creating saves, if it's not a software problem with your system.I MIGHT recommend downloading a savegame, create the directory manually, and then start the game through the fallout launcher, so that the game can try to sort the directories out by itself. While you have the launcher open (and I apologize, I'm not on my playing rig at the moment) but there's an option in the launcher to set the ratio of your game screen size. The options are something:10 and something:9have you tried toggling those? I had to change that setting to get it to work on my test machine, which only has a 14 inch screen.
