Full screen issue

Heya Jerry, sorry for not looking back in on this for so long. :sad:

I'm afraid that I'm coming up with a blank, on what could be preventing you from creating saves, if it's not a software problem with your system.

I MIGHT recommend downloading a savegame, create the directory manually, and then start the game through the fallout launcher, so that the game can try to sort the directories out by itself.

While you have the launcher open (and I apologize, I'm not on my playing rig at the moment) but there's an option in the launcher to set the ratio of your game screen size. The options are something:10 and something:9

have you tried toggling those? I had to change that setting to get it to work on my test machine, which only has a 14 inch screen.

Yeah I have tried these, which unfortunately didn't work.

Though I did manage to get it going well with a bizarre method by creating a new account on my laptop and play fallout4 on that local account.

It seems when logged in with your Microsoft account with password, several restrictions will be applied, which strangely only affect fallout4, and not other games saved in that folder.

Feels bad man for this Microsoft bullsh*t

Try this to see if it resolves the microsoft issue

Start - Control Panel - User Accounts - User Account Control, (Drag the Slider Right to The Bottom *Never Notify*) reset computer

Do the above on the account you use that requires a password, login, then do the above, then press ok, and reset the computer, log back in again, and that should resolve issues with windows and fallout 4.

doing the above gets rid of a lot of annoyances such as windows prompt popping up every time you do something sensitive, the above will eliminate that, among other annoying things.

a few other things you can try, although unlikely they will make a difference but its worth a shot nontheless.

1. Start - Control Panel - Power Options - Click on High Performance Mode.

2. Right click on Desktop - Nvidia Control Panel - Manage 3d Settings - Global Settings Tab, Locate *Power Management Mode* click on *Prefer Maximum Performance* <-- then Click on Program Settings Tab, Select Fallout 4 from the Drop Down Box, and Do the Same.

Restart Computer again and see if that makes a difference.

I am gonna ask Microsoft community for my problems to see what they can help with. Thanks for your suggestions bud.

I found my fix, it was the fallout4pref.ini in the profile folder causing the problem, after fixing the one in 'my document'. It persisted and i looked for another file, and seen each profile had one and there was a profile with the wrong resolutoion settings messing with me all this time. i hope it helps if you have this wild hare.

----

Go Here: C:\Users\Your Computer Name\Documents\My Games\Fallout4

Right Click on Fallout4Prefs.ini and ensure that it is Not Set to Read-Only, if it is untick that box

Open Fallout4Prefs.ini and find these settings (and set them accordingly as shown)

bMaximizeWindow=0

bBorderless=1

bFull Screen=1

iSize H=1080

iSize W=1920

Then save it, and right click on Fallout4Prefs.ini and Tick the Read-Only Box

-----

Oh my gosh, thank you! I was in the mood to play FO4 and all of the sudden it didn't want to open. I could get a tiny window to open if I checked windowed mode, but that was it. Anything else would get it to try to start before giving up. F4SE didn't work at all. But thanks to your help it does now.

Now I just need to work on my settings to knock down that lag. Thanks again!
