tVEC
Can anyone else verify that the 1.8 beta breaks map markers and quest markers? It also nullified my custom ini map settings. I use Map HUD enhanced markers but have seen reports of the same on other map marker mod forums. Of course I know it's beta but I wanted to report it. Rabbit1251
You should report it to the beta feedback forum on Steam. Rabbit
Max1944
With 1.8 beta, my world-map character-position-arrow is gone. And as you said: custom skyrim.ini settings won't work.
Max1944
With the official 1.8 there are still no custom map settings in skyrim.ini  And custom map markers only work with a new Mod (the old one is still broken). No changes from beta to official Edited November 9, 2012 by Max1944

No changes from beta to official I have the same problem. A bit of a challenge when you do not get your orientation and exact location on the map. Any solution to this? I've switched to using EzEs -Colored Map Markers- and it fixed the issue for me. It's a bit colorful for my taste, but it's functional and better than not having quest markers at all. Thanks iocaster - that dit it for me too! I chose the "Simple set" to avoid too many colors. Will endorse EzEs for this "fix" :)
thestormdragon
Recently I've upgraded to 1.8 Beta and am still playing a game I started under the previous version. So far all of my map markers work fine. The only Mods I use that effect the map is Quality Map V8.0, Riverwood Starter Home, and Dragon Falls Manor. My map has custom markers on it too from the Riverwood Starter Home and Dragon Falls Manor. My character position arrow works too. The problems listed in other replies may not be from 1.8 Beta. I also use SKSE for a few mods requiring it (latest version). I do not use any other script enhancing programs or programs modifying start order. I have both Dawnguard and Hearthfire installed. I would check and see if there is a mod conflict causing the above problems (a mod modifying the map that is not compatible with 1.8 could cause problems).
