Slavemaster4u
I took out all the FOSE files except those you list above. And FOSE won't launch at all. So obviously their needed. These are the included install info:[ Installation ]1. Copy the .dll files and fose_loader.exe to your Fallout 3 directory. This is usually in your Program Files folder, and should contain files called Fallout3.exe, FalloutLauncher.exe and the G.E.C.K. (if installed).2. Launch Fallout by running fose_loader.exe from the Fallout3 directory. This is the latest version of FOSE.I put the files back in. Now back at square 1. What troubles me is that the FO3Launcher gives this error, yet the games FO3.exe launches to main menu. Also did try opening setting from main menu and that worked fine.So at a loss at this point. I am thinking that sense the FO3Launcher gives an error then the FO3.exe should also throw an error. I even removed the 2 pref files in my games->Fallout 3. Thinking maybe they were at issue. But got same error. I have had to do a lot of troubleshooting Beth games all the way back to Morrowind. So goes to show issues will always be expected. The reason I was getting back into FO3 was because of a mod I am trying called "Tale of two Wastelands" which requires FO3 and FONV with all DLC for both. Am presently playing FONV and FO4. And am working on bringing FO3 and FONV into FO4 as a single game. So not going to put much more head banging into trying to figure this out. Have other, more important, things to focus on. And once again, thank you for your time and input.
Purr4me
Did not have the ini. Now do. But this gets stranger the deeper I look into it.1. If I load game by game launcher I get an exception error.2. If I load the games exe it loads to main menu. I hit new game. That begins (Get cross hair at bottom of screen and scrolling background). Then game CTD.3. Have FOSE installed, but no plugins added. Launch game from FOSE launcher. Same thing happens as with game exe launch.4. Have deleted all FO3 files in root directory. Did file validation. All files reinstalled. Do same process as above. Get same results.Nothing other than FOSE installed. Checked plugins file (AppData->Lacal->Fallout 3). Fallout esm is first file in list and DLC after that.Fallout3.esmAnchorage.esmThePitt.esmBrokenSteel.esmPointLookout.esmZeta.esmI tried with and without the intel patch. Even tried with no DLC with and without Intel patch.Get same results. The confusing part is with the Fallout3Launcher getting an exception, yet Fallout 3.exe loads the game. The CTDs when trying to start game.I also let the game sit at main menu for a few min. to see if it would CTD without doing anything. No CTD on main menu. Application load error.jpg .net error and visual basics errors both fall under this cat. Edited November 12, 2019 by Purr4me
Slavemaster4u
Great news. Issue found. Sometimes I fell dumber than usual. All this time I have been trouble shooting with no mods. Just Game and DLC. And FOSE has no plugins. But just for the hell of it, decided to look at my AppData->Fallout3, plugins and DLC files. That's when I immediately say the issue. The FO3 esm was 3 down on list, so moved it to top. The when I compared the DLC list file to the plugins file, found DLC listed different in each. So copy\paste the DLC list to plugins, below FO3 esm. Then launch FOLauncher first. It loaded to main scrren. Issue 1 solved. The launched FO3exe it loaded to main menu. Hit "new game" Game started and was able to get all the way to vault escape. Issue 2 solved. Then loaded game from FOSE and again started new game. Escaped the vault NP. Now going to start modding it, starting with "fixes". This final fix being a simple one is not strange to me. Have seen on SOOOOO many occasions, with Beth games, how a simple, yet illusive, fix solves most issues. This is just another example. So going to close this topic. A great thanks for all input received. Hopefully, if someone else has this issue, they find this post. And it fixes their issue also. Best to all. Happy gaming. JimmyRJump
Had to buy the steam GOTY FO3. My disc were damaged. So reinstalled the game from scratch. Did first run through steam. Got to main menu. Hit "new game" Starts, thens CTD.Then I installed the F3SE. Then did large address aware. Started game from SE. Again got to main menu. Hit "new game" Again CTD. Checked the plugins file in appData->Local->Fallout 3. FO3.esm is at top and all DLC are there. So not a load order issue. Again no mods installed yet. Haven't played this for a few years, so can't remember if this was issue then. But was working on older (now deceased) computer. So should work on this one. Also did try running in compatibility for Win XP through Win Vista, with same results.Specs:Win 10i5 3.4ghz8gb ddr4 ram4gb intel onboard graphics Any help would be appreciated. You should have gotten the GOG game of the year edition. Only 20 bucks and has been updated with everything you need like the 4GB patch and some such. I've bought it recently because the CD and Steam editions suck big-time.
