pahnkayks
Not sure when it started, but all of the sudden, whenever I try to open the workshop menu (via holding down the hotkey, or via activating the workbench), the workshop menu will open for a split second, and then immediately close. I can start a new game, and everything will work fine, but eventually, the problem comes back. I don't know if its just a bug in the game that I am (apparently the only person in the world) unlucky enough to have, or some sort of mod conflict. I can post my mod load order if 1. someone can remind me where that file is located, and 2. someone can recommend a good way to post a giant wall of text. (I am addicted to downloading mods... hence why I am most likely having this problem in the first place.)
G4M3W1NN3R
what mod manager are you are you using, as that will determine where the load order will be, the load order is required in order for us to determine if its a mod based issue. G4M3W1NN3R
Concealed Armor Made Redundant by Armorkeywords.esm = (AWKCR already includes this feature) as such Concealed Armors = Mod Conflict - recommend deleting this mod. or you will very likely run into issues when you use the armor workbench sooner or later. MonnoBikini - Modular.esp (Rename to MonnoBikini.esp) and delete the Other Monnobikini.esp Note: this bit above is only applicable if that is indeed the modular mod i made a while back under the name Twistedfatal, or xXxPYR0ST0RMxXx, my mod esp file is the only 1 you need, the original mod is only needed for the textures and material files, not the esp file. my esp is all you need (Monno Bikini - Modular). by having the original mod esp file would cause duplicates. so as such delete the original esp first, and simply rename my ESP file to the original mod as mentioned above. i am the first person to make said mod, modular and used such a specific name, that i am pretty sure that is indeed my old mod. that i removed due to account change, but never Re-uploaded since someone else made a similar mod, in my downtime. WorkshopCategoriesFixer.esp=1 <-- try disabling to see if the problem persists WorkshopPlus.esp <-- try disabling to see if the problem persists WorkshopFramework.esm <-- try disabling to see if the problem persists possible mod conflicts, between the 3. all 3 workshop mods possibly edit the workshop itself, which would be the cause of the instant close when loaded, so disabling each 1 at a time, will confirm if it is indeed a conflict. Lastly you have an invalid load order, but we will get into this if the above does not resolve the issue. pahnkayks
I actually added those 3 workshop mods a while back with my last playthrough (when this problem first happened) because they dealt with the workshop in hopes that it would fix the problem. However, it didn't, and I just forgot to remove them. So I have now removed Concealed armor, deleted the monnobikini.esp, and renamed the one provided by your mod, and have removed the 3 workshop mods. So maybe my invalid load order has something to do with it?
G4M3W1NN3R
disable every single mod (so only Fallout 4.ESM is Active), and launch the game Via Fallout 4.exe, not F4SE (so you do not load any F4SE plugin) and see if the issues persists, so we will know if this is indeed a mod related issue. if the issue no longer happens after disabling all mods, then we will know for sure this is a mod related issue. so if the issue is fixed after disabling all mods then proceed below: if it is indeed a mod issue, then enable 5 mods at a time until the issue re-appears. then open all of the current active mods into Fo4Edit, and check for Red Background/ Red Text, so we can see if the issue is caused by a mod conflict, or mods themselves. then report back here with a list of all the mods that have Red background/ Red Text Note: Do Not make a Save after Disabling all Mods. After Disabling all mods and going back into the game to see if it fixed the issue, Force Close the Game Via Task Manager. otherwise closing it normally will create an autosave, which will cause issues to the current and all future saved games, especially if the mods you disabled include scripts. Note: if disabling all mods and launching the game via fallout 4.exe did not solve the issue, then their is a good chance that your Fallout 4 Master Files and or Ba2 Archives are defective. if that is the case: Open Steam - Librabary - Right Click on fallout 4 - Properties - Local Files Tab - Verify Integrity of Game Cache then see if the issue persists. pahnkayks
So I have determined that it is a mod(s) that is causing the problem. Just don't know which yet. I originally didn't want to have to disable all my mods, because it is time consuming. So instead, I just went to the plugins tab in NMM, and unchecked everything. Problem still existed, and I noticed that a few mods still seemed to be loading. (even though all of the plugins were unchecked in NMM, and I only install mods via NMM)Next, I verified my game's files, and around 300mb redownloaded. Problem still existed. Then, I moved everything from the "my games" folder in my documents, everything in the appdata folder, and the game's data folder, to my desktop. Then, I re-verified my game's files. (so that it would download a fresh data folder).I copied my saves folder back to the "my games" folder. Booted up the game and loaded my newest save. Problem gone. Now I just have to start the super fun process of adding all my mods back a few at a time until one breaks my game again.Might go through my mods and try to get rid of a lot of them that I don't really need. StormWolf01
I hope that you read this before you start doing that.If you've verified the integrity of your installation, I keep a "working copy" of my clean install on my external hard drive, for safe keeping. I recommend that you do that before you start adding mods to it."But, I've got a copy on my desktop?" Don't leave folders with that much information in them on your desktop. You want to move that off there, and preferably to a second hard drive. Why? Because your desktop is a very active place in windows. Having multiple gigs on there, especially around 30 gigs, is 30 gigs of info that your computer is going to access, a lot. Which can possibly slow windows down. Also, because the desktop is scanned and loaded every time windows starts up, so that is another 30 gigs that is going to slow down your startup."But won't that work as my working backup?" It can, if the install was working, when you made it. But personally, I don't recommend relying on a copy of a copy. Especially not if the copy is made by windows, which has very little in the way of file verification after making such copies. Especially when we're talking about 10+ gigs of info here. I prefer a program called FastCopy https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/fastcopy.html for transferring large amounts of files. Not only because this program can do differential copies (meaning it only transfers files that have been modified, or added since the last time you copied the files with it) but it also includes an option for file verification. VERY small learning curve to it as well, so it's not difficult to learn. It also doesn't put near as much of a strain in your OS (windows) while working as doing it as a copy n paste (CnP) does when working with large amounts of files.
