What I miss

If all you saw was snow then you didn't really explore some of the more beautiful areas of Skyrim. The Rift is absolutely gorgeous. the Reach just feels so remote, I can get lost in those hills for days. I actually really enjoy riding across the tundra, hunting Elk. The marsh;ands around Morthal are so creepy, I love the atmosphere. Blackreach!

I recently got morrowind and the graphics overhaul 3.0, and the game does looks decent. But, take this point of view from someone who played Skyrim first. You say Skyrim is all snow and tundra, I say that Morrowind is either ashland or swamps.

I agree the Rift is beautiful (and it was much more beautiful in that gamejam video where there was seasonal foliage... I want seasonal foliage the way some people want spears) and I really enjoy how weird Morthal is, but Windhelm, Winterhold, and Dawnstar really are all snow, rocky, and icy water... Solitude is alpine forests, and the Reach is stunted trees and chasms. And most of Whiterun is tundra...

I know this is just a personal taste thing, but I grew up in Colorado (USA). Alpine forests and prairie (specifically the prairie part). I hate prairie. I hate it hate it hate it, so much no amount of formatting can do it justice. I loathe every tuft of coarse grass and every expanse of treeless horizon. And what do I see as soon as I come down the mountain from Riverwood...? :wallbash: If at least the grass were green instead of brown-looking and dead... But no.

I like lush, verdant, overflowing with life, surrounded by trees (preferably deciduous). The Rift is the only place where I actually enjoy the landscape (but I don't like the culture there. Figures. ) You say that Morrowind was all swamp, ashland, and I'm assuming grassland was implied :P I agree, and I loved it. The swamp was so alive, and the grassland was so pleasant, and that made the blighted areas seem so much more bleak. Skyrim is just... the eastern half of Colorado condensed into 14 square miles >>

( /rant. Sorry about that. )

Hmmmmmm

exploits.

Can you exploit something that was intended for you to use as you see fit?

Example:

In Oblivion, when it first came out you could duplicate items using arrows.

Then when Knights of the Nine came out it seemed as though that went away, come to find out they changed it and you used scrolls to duplicate.

So Bethesda knows it is there and knows some people will use it a lot, if they didn't want you to abuse it they would have put some kind of cap on it.

So any "glitch" found in the game is more than likely put there on purpose, some people will not use it, others will use it a lot. That is why it is there.

just my opinion for "exploiting"

I miss the longer Guild quests in Oblivion and the Fame/Infamy.....Skyrim feels like it doesn't matter what you do....but really truly DO NOT miss that damnable persuasion/intimidate game, was relieved to find it gone in Skyrim...I also don't like the forced quests and hand holding in Skyrim.....but the graphics in Skyrim are much nicer....

There was a morrowind patch that came out about 2 months ago. Check it out, and i think you'll find that while the graphics are definitely dated, they're still quite impressive with the patch. Mind you, morrowind takes a lot more space iwth the patch. Lol.

I have a friend....well my bro in law actually....he had always been encouraging me to play Morrowind....I had no interest due to the Graphics initially, but he has the game with the patch you mention and so I became interested and started asking more questions about the game.....he lost me completely when he mentioned Morrowind uses something of a dice role feature (kinda like table top RPG) during combat ...as to whether you hit or miss, damage dealt, etc...I love Sniping and Archery in games...remove the auto aim if it's possible and prefer to rely on my own ability as to whether I hit or miss and where I hit....the dice roll concept destroyed any interest I had in Morrowind... ...tis a shame, but oh well....Thanks for the suggestion anyway Slainia....

I think many of us feel that AnkhAsendant.... ....I live in one of the hottest, dryest places on Earth (most remote city in the world) and snow does not exist in my state....and I can't stand hot weather.... :ohdear: ....sometimes I get the feeling it's the only place on Earth that gets absolutely zero snow.... :( ....As such I do not like desert or scrubby regions or anywhere suggesting blistering heat in games and as such I guess is also the reason I quite like the snowy landscapes in Skyrim.....thought the Reach and Rift remain my favorite locations for sheer beauty.

Yep I have. I was exaggeration to make a point lol. I really enjoy Skyrim's landscape, especially the frozen north.

I'm Irish. I guess lush landscape bores me the same way. I do enjoy the frozen north and the tundra.

I just remembered another little tiny thing from Oblivion that would be really nice to have back.

The Black Horse Courier. Sure, you saw the same issues over and over, but sometimes they updated, and sometimes they involved you. ^^ Plus it was cool to see some of them riding around, and how you could grab an issue if you managed to catch up with one. It made more sense for everyone to know about certain issues with them around. In Skyrim, you have to assume that either gossip travels really fast, Talsgar the wanderer knows all and tells all, or everyone is psychic. We do have couriers, but they make zero sense, since they appear seconds after buying things in Windhelm from Calcelmo in Markarth. There's just no excuse for that without Mark and Recall, or Guild Guides.

@MiloHunts, that does look promising. Pity it only covers one of the factions I avoid at all costs.

I agree with all of this. The Couriers are really stupid as it is. If they had a few days delay on events it would be fine. Also if they delivered newspapers it would be awesome. I'm sure modding that in would be fairly easy, right?

The College should definitely have guides around the place, for example Falion could be one. The Court Wizards would also be good candidates. In fact, I wonder if anyone has thought of adding that option. I'm sure I saw mods for teleporting but I have not found one yet. Apart from Bat travel. Can anyone suggest a good mark/recall type of mod?

Another thing that is stupid is with Heartfire.

on one character I got the house in the middle of nowhere, all my other characters I get a letter from falcreath (sp).

I made a new character last night for the new companion mod (the link I posted above).

I exited Helgan, talked to Alvor, went to Bleakfalls(sp), went back to riverwood to give the golden claw. When I exited there was the courier with a letter from the Jarl of Falcreath about buying land for the house(I hadn't even been to whiterun yet).

At first I thought it was determined by what town you were in the most, but now not sure as i had only been to 1 town.

I wish it was made so you could pick where you wanted the home, not where they choose for you.

I am considering removing the mod for these reasons.
