StarCraft 1

Deus EX(first game)

Duke Nukem(early games, for teh lulz)

UFO: enemy unkown

Neverwinter nights 1 Diamond(may not work)

Command N Conquer: Red Alert 1 and 2(probably the funniest game franchise of it's era)

Diablo 1 and 2

Operation Flashpoint

All very old and pure gold-they should only cost a few $, but they're all wonderful.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (the old single-player one, not the new mmo)

KOTOR II: The Sith Lords (despite the rumors, it still is a very good game, especially with the Restored Content mod)

I'm also going to recommend Morrowind, though it's already been mentioned.

Neverwinter Nights 1

And... The Killing Floor is great, and extremely active online, and moddable. It's old now, the only thing is the graphics have been updated quite a lot since it released, so it's actually quite good looking on ultra. It should still run nicely on a horrible laptop though, since the minimum settings are still very low-end and it's well optimized. I had a dual-core 2.5 Ghz cpu, Intel GMA chipset, and 2GB of RAM and I could keep it stable online at medium-low settings at 768p. Another good thing is that the devs keep supporting it with free dlc maps and guns, and there are always a ton of people online. Offline it's a bore though; it's meant to be played cooperatively.

Quake 2 looked awsome but I get a big game breaking bug so I can't play it :( I tried most of the rest and they are pretty good (some I already have) are there some games that are not too old like in 2000 or newer but just optimized.
