Automatically enable looks menu without NMM/Vortex/Other?

[Edit] Well, I think I've found what I'm looking for.

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13671 Simple Plugin Manager

Does everything that I'm wanting, without the bloat. Lets me manually arrange my load order, save my plugins.txt file, lets me start the game thru F4se straight from the manager, has a few settings, nothing horrible.

AND it even cleared up that problem that I was having with the lag from switching from the ingame load order screen back to the main menu!

I'm considering this one very happily closed. :D :)

Hi everybody! Thanks for taking a look at my thread. I really appreciate any help that somebody could give me on this.

My f4se and looksmenu all work out just fine. There's no problem there.

But, I don't use a mod manager, so Every time I start the game up thru f4se, I have to go to the in-game load order menu, and reselect looks menu to activate it.

Used not to be a problem. But here lately, it's taking a while for the game to shift back from the load order screen, back to the main menu. I'd really like to not have to do that anymore.

I'd also really like to not have to use a manager that will mess with my game files, as much as possible. IE- NMM or Vortex. Or that's gonna try to take control of my load order.

Just something that will make it so that I don't have to spend the extra time, manually re-activating looks menu, every time I load the game.

Is that possible? Any leads?

TIA!

-Storm

You can solve the always having to reactivate Looks Menu thing by checking the box for it in FO4 Edit so it loads it up in there . Right Click it once it has loaded up in FO4Edit and choose ' Add Master/s ' or something like that . And choose and select Fallout4.esm as it's master and then select ' save ' by clicking on the 3 lines of the application in the top left hand corner . Once youve done that and reactivated it once more ( if it's not already activated ) then it should stay activated . Just make sure you repeat the process when it gets updated ( hopefully a new update is around the corner pretty soon so you can get some practice in with this method on the current version ) .

Heya Bruce! Thanks for taking the time to reply. And thanks for the advice.

I have however, found something that works a lot smoother for me, by adding all of my new mods to my plugins.txt file, manually.

I'll add the method that I'm currently using, just for anybody that's reading it, and looking for an alternative.

Since I install my mods manually, once I've CnP'd all the files into my data folder, I just copy the full filename of the esp/esl/esm.

Then I open up my Plugins.txt file -

"C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Local\Fallout4\Plugins.txt" I have a shortcut to the file in with the rest of my fallout 4 shortcuts that I've made (Xedit, bodyslide, f4se, shortcut to data folder, etc etc.).

Then, I can just paste the name of the file exactly where I want it in my load order, place an asterisk in front of the filename, Ctrl +S and....done.

But yeah, I'm hoping LM updates again soon too. I've noticed that in the downloads section, some people have resorted to sharing savegame files, for presets again. I've been very tempted to see if I can find a good, free DLL file editor, and see if I can't find that version number, and just change it myself! :D

(Edit) The LooksMenu dll file, I mean.
