How to Stop Nexus Vortex from breaking SKSE 64?

Requiring a bit of help as I have been stuck. I have a fresh installation of Skyrim SE via steam. I install SKSE 64 and it works fine. I load up the game and through console commands can check the version of SKSE. The second I installed Nexus Vortex it breaks SKSE and I can no longer launch it. I am installing my games to the D: drive if that is causing any issues. I have to manually uninstall everything then go through the SKSE steps again to get it working. So I am at the vortex setup stage again

You should have everything installed in the same drive(I.E. D: drive). Skyrim, Vortex, SKSE64, AND all your mods. If you have any one of those installed in a different drive location, for example, Vortex and any associated mods for your game, the game will register that there are mods installed, but it will immediately crash the game because the game can't find the mods because they are not in the same drive as the game. This is just one potential fix, but I don't know if you are installing vortex on the same directory path as the game and SKSE64, since you said you are installing the game on you D: drive. Double check the intallation path of Vortex and associated mods for you game. That ***might*** be the problem. If that's not it, sorry I can't be of more help.

EDIT:: Some programs automatically, regardless of storage settings, install on the C: drive, since that is usually the default drive.

EDIT 2:: Also check that all the plugins for all your mods are active. Some may be missing master .esp files, of just outright failed to activate.

The only Folder from Vortex, that needs to go on the same drive as your game is the MOD STAGING FOLDER.
Vortex, and the download folder can be anywhere, on any hard drive.

You need to set SKSE to PRIMARY in Vortex.
First, set your paths in the Vortex dashboard by clicking ADD TOOL, if Vortex didn't automatically add it. (Yours will be different than mine)

Then set SKSE to PRIMARY, by clicking the 3 vertical dots next to the PLAY button in the SKSE entry on the dashboard...
Then select MAKE PRIMARY, and a small Banner will now display on the SKSE entry, showing you that it's set to PRIMARY, so now SKSE will automatically run when you start your game
