RennyRenRenton
So, I've been watching a video series on YouTube about modding New Vegas by DarkPopulous, and I've made it to Video 7 where he downloads and installs Mod Configuration Menu(MCM) he shows how it should detect the New Vegas Script Extender(NVSE), and proceeds to move on... problem here is, the MCM can't detect NVSE on my computer for some reason - can anybody help walk me through this? I'm completely new to PC gaming as a whole, I've been dying to play some games with mods but I'm really bad at navigating my PC :(
HadToRegister
If MCM can't find NVSE, then most likely you don't have NVSE installed correctly. Follow the installation instructions that come in the NVSE zip file[ Installation ] 1. Copy the .dll and .exe files to your Fallout NV directory. This is usually in your Program Files folder under Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\. If you see files named FalloutNV.exe and FalloutNVLauncher.exe, this is the correct folder. Do not copy these files to the Data folder as with a normal mod.
RennyRenRenton
How will I know for sure once it's downloaded? Because the instructions say to type "GetNVSEVersion" into the commands, and it comes up saying I have version 5, but it's still saying NVSE not detected when trying to install MCM

RennyRenRenton
I was just using Nexus Mod Organizer
dubiousintent
Mod managers often do not install NVSE and related plugins (like MCM) correctly. They assume all files will be placed directly under the "Data" folder, while NVSE and it's plugins have to be placed under "Data\NVSE" (which does not exist by default). Install them manually. -Dubious-
RennyRenRenton
So should I delete it from Mod Organizer? I tried to manually install it into the game files (the one with falloutNV.exe) but it looked nothing like the video showed so I deleted it (or at least I think I did, I'm feel like my dad with this lmao)
dubiousintent
Since you "installed" it with MO, I would "uninstall" it that way as well just so it "cleans things up" properly. Then please see the 'Checklist Item #4' entry in the "Checklist" section of the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" article. -Dubious-
